About our home

This is our town flat in Newtown Edinburgh - 10 minutes walk from Princes Street and the Castle. It is in the middle of Georgian Edinburgh: our building was first "fewed"(rent paid to the King) in 1819. James Barrie (of Peter Pan fame) lodged here while he was studying at Edinburgh University.
We have three bedrooms; one with King size bed, two with single beds; kitchen, separate toilet, shower room, large living room and access to the private gardens nearby. The two back bedrooms look out on gardens so are quiet. It is perfectly located for coming to the Edinburgh Festival in August: the largest arts festival in the world. It is a comfortable, warm, traditional style place to be.

More about us

  1. I am originally American but moved here to Scotland in 1975; fell in love with the country and (rather conveniently) then with a Scot - now my husband. I work in Counselling and Coaching while my husband heads up the Alzheimers Project in the Borders where our primary home is situated. My husband is an opera buff so this summer we want to come to Seattle for Wagner's Ring; so our flat in Edinburgh will be available the first three weeks of August - just when both the Edinburgh International and the Fringe Festivals will be on. As an American I can never tire of the beauty of Georgian Edinburgh and the atmosphere of this city.

Where is it?

We are in the middle of New Town Historic Edinburgh; a traditional top floor flat which would have originally been owned by a widow who would let out a room to a student. Nearby private gardens give the area a graciousness and there are many pubs, restaurants, boutique clothing shops in the immediate vicinity.
