About our home

We have a lovely, large 2 bedroom (1 single, 1 double), Victorian period tenement apartment on the 1st floor within just 20 minutes walk from the center of Edinburgh. We are south facing and have large windows that flood sunlight into the living room, kitchen and main bedroom. We enjoy fantastic views of the city and the Braid Hills and local Pentland Hills. Our neighbours are pleasant, quiet and friendly.

Our apartment has many period features, is quiet and yet very close to shops etc and is situated in the prestigious Morningside area, with excellent local amenities (high street, library, coffee shops, amazing family run cinema, children's play park, bars, restaurants etc) a few minutes away. Blackford Hill and Hermitage of Braid provide excellent walking and nature trails for both adults and children. Morningside is thought of as one of the best areas to live in Edinburgh, and yet just 2.5 kilometers from the historic old town of Edinburgh and City centre. We have many buses with in a 2 min walk from the apartment to the town centre, airport etc.

More about us

  1. We are both keen outdoor people, Alison is a school teacher and loves to walk and ride her road bike, she is an avid reader, and enjoys visiting new places. Pete is a ski teacher, a keen road and mountain biker, kite surfer and skier. He loves to be outside and enjoys mountains and water. Neither of us smoke and we don't have any children or pets.

We also have a second home in France that we would be willing to exchange. This home is available from May-November almost anytime. It is a 1 bedroom apartment in the Haute Savoie area of the French Alps in a stunning location. Do ask for more details if you would prefer to go to the French Alps!!

Where is it?

Edinburgh is the capital city of Scotland. Within the city are numerous attractions including the famous historic Castle, the Queen's residence - the Palace of Holyrood House and the Royal Yacht Britannia. To get a proper view of the city, a stroll to the top of Arthur's Seat is recommended, or for those seeking a more challenging hill walk, to the south of the city are the Pentland Hills.

Neighbouring East Lothian is worth a visit for its clean, sandy beaches, offering opportunities for coastal walks, kitesurfing and other water sports. For golfers, there are numerous fantastic golf courses including the British Open venue at Muirfield (host to the 2013 British Open Golf Championship) and its qualifying courses at North Berwick and Dunbar. Some of the world’s best mountain biking trail centres (Glentress in the Scottish borders for example), are less than an hours drive from the city.

During the month of August, Edinburgh plays host to the world in the annual Festival, with its associated Fringe. If you prefer to escape the crowds, we are a short drive away from the city bypass (5-10 mins drive) which access the major route-ways leading to the Scottish Borders and the Scottish Highlands and Islands.
