Ours is a light, airy 4-bed detached house in a quiet cul-de-sac in Godmanchester, a small riverside town on the outskirts of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire. It has an open, homely feel to it, with an open plan living/room dining room; a great cooker for those who love their food; and a large patio area at the back (great for barbecues!) We have four bedrooms, three of them double. The master double has an en suite jacuzzi bath and power shower, and there is an additional bathroom upstairs for other guests. We think our home is a great place to kick back in and relax.
Both of us (myself, Danni, and my husband, Warren) are in our 30s, with a background in the media ? Warren as a former lawyer, and myself as a journalist/TV producer, now wannabe writer. Both of us love adventurous travel, although for now we are focusing a little closer to home (UK or Europe) as we have our hands full with our lovely three-year-old, Ned. We are a little nervous about Home Exchange, but have been recommended it by a friend who has travelled the world with it. We will treat your home as we do ours with great respect, and would very much want you to feel at home here and comfortable.
Leisurely trips along the river, picturesque walks and cycle rides, Gastro pubs, and nearby cities with plenty of history? welcome to Godmanchester! Based on the outskirts of Huntingdon in Cambridgeshire, Godmanchester has the best of both worlds ? the peace and quiet of the country but still only a 40-minute train ride from London and a 20-minute car journey from the historical city of Cambridge. Stansted and Luton airports are less than 60 minutes by car. Built along the the river, Godmanchester was chartered as a town back in 1212, but has retained a village feel, with its own pubs, Chinese/Malaysian restaurant, café, and convenience stores. It's best-known feature is the Chinese Bridge, connecting it to Britain's largest meadow, where you can amble along the river before stopping for a well-earned rest at Brampton Mill. Boat hire can be arranged from the marina at Huntingdon. Huntingdon (the birthplace of Oliver Cromwell) has two specialist wine shops; a 24-hour supermarket, a multiplex cinema, and High Street stores such as Next, Mothercare, and Waitrose. Huntingdon's train station connects to London in the South and the Midlands and Scotland in the North. Places of interest include Huntingdon Racecourse; Cambridge; and nearby Ely, a stunning Cathedral town on the river; Wood Green Animal Shelter, Hinchingbroke Country Park and Grafham Water.
