About our home

Our home was built in 1864 by a local successful business man as the main residence for his family. It is located near the centre of Shotley Bridge, a pretty Victorian Village 20 minutes from the city of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne. Nearby, are other interesting places such as Durham City, Corbridge and Hadrians Wall. The house has many original architectural features, a large Victorian style garden, its own driveway and a Living Wall modelled upon Italian Villas.

We purchased the house earlier this year and are making gradual changes to the decoration and utilities over the next few years. However, it is in good order already with all modern conveniences.

More about us

  1. We are a couple who like to travel. We like art, architecture, good food and good company. We hope to travel with our son, daughter and two grandchildren this year, in their school holiday period or perhaps on our own later in the year. We are away this year between 7th March and the 14th April and would be keen to lend our home then in a points exchange - if interested please contact us asap. Otherwise we are flexible and open to offers!

  2. We are both retired. We have two young cats that would need looking after, while we are away. Julie loves arts and crafts producing large photographic canvases, cushions, lampshades and other soft furnishings. Nic is the chef!

  3. We are putting much of our efforts into renovating our home in a sympathetic way over the next few years. Some years ago we lived in a campervan and travelled round Europe. We also used to run a bed & breakfast place on the west coast of Scotland
