About our home

We are looking for a long term swap in Mallorca.

Ours is a comfortable and welcoming family house for a family of 5, plus guests. It is a typical suburban semi, but in a quiet close at the edge of the village, less than 5 minutes walk to lovely countryside and river. Henfield is just outside the South Downs National Park which runs parallel to the English Southeastern coast for about 100 miles. If you are keen walkers and cyclists, this area is perfect! We are only 20 minutes by car from the beautiful and lively city of Brighton, great for going out, shopping, music and culture. Several other smaller towns are nearby with train stations on the main line to London which is only about 1 hour away. Gatwick airport is 30 minutes away and the ferry port of Newhaven, 40 minutes.

Our house has an open-plan sitting room/dining room/kitchen with a wood stove for cozy winter evenings. The 2 bathrooms have been stylishly renovated recently. The garage is divided into a workshop and a utility/bike store. There is also a carport for 2 cars. We are keen gardeners and have a lovely back garden with sitting areas for sun and shade, as well as a greenhouse. In addition, we have the benefit of a vegetable garden at a friend's. We also have a small coop with 4 chickens, as well as 2 lovely, affectionate cats. Our dog, Nena would be coming with us abroad.

The neighbours in the close are very friendly and helpful. We have lived here for 25 very happy years.

Henfield is a medium size, very community oriented village with some 6000 inhabitants. The older parts still retain the charm of typical English villages with well preserved Tudor cottages. The Norman church is surrounded by ancient tombstones and short avenues of manicured yew trees.

The village has many shops that cater for your everyday needs. We even have our milk delivered by a milkman 3 times a week! On the other hand, we are not far from a few large supermarkets. There is also a very good primary school, as well as several excellent secondary schools and 6th Form colleges nearby. Any children living here would have access to state school education.

Our home is ideally situated in an area within easy reach of many beautiful towns, historic houses and castles, beautiful countryside and many other attractions suitable for all ages. Spending a weekend in Oxford, Cambridge or Bath, for instance, could be done easily.
