About our home

Our home is comfortable, clean, and spacious. It has a light and airy kitchen with a dining area overlooking the south-facing garden. The deck overlooks a fenced garden that is private and has trees, flowers and play equipment for children.

The lounge area has large, comfortable sofas and a double sofa bed (which could sleep an additional 2 people). It has gas (real flame) fireplaces and an 8-seater table. It is decorated in a modern style in keeping with the age of the house (1926).

On the first floor there are two bedrooms - both double rooms (with double beds). On this floor there is also a small study room with computer/internet access. This floor also has a bathroom (with shower over bath), toilet and basin.

On the top floor there is the large master bedroom, and en-suite shower room. This modern and light room has a pretty juliette balcony overlooking the garden. A lovely, warm and welcoming house!

More about us

  1. My name is Maxine and I am a local primary school teacher. My husband Jim is a Therapist. We have two daughters - Josie (aged 18) and Annie (Aged 15) who are calm and well-behaved girls. We leave you with excellent guidance about how to use our home, about local things to do and places to eat - you get a real 'insiders' view of Brighton and England.

We enjoy outdoor life, as well as enjoying living in a vibrant and trendy city. We love reading, so we have a well stocked library! We have a friendly cat who we prefer to leave with you. Our previous guests have enjoyed her - she is very sweet.

We have done six home exchanges before - one to Costa Brava (Catalunya), last year to Andulusia, two in France, one in England, and one in Portugal - all were extremely successful, please see the recommendations. We have had wonderful feedback and have also been very happy with the respect of our visitors. We can guarantee your home will be left perfectly and your belongings cared for.

Where is it?

We live a short walk from the centre of Brighton and about a 10-15 minute walk from the sea. Hence, a car is not really needed as most facilities are within a short walk. Brighton station is 10 minutes walk and London can be reached in 50 minutes from this station. This is an extremely safe and pleasant neighbourhood. We have a beautiful, historic park 2 minutes walk from the house, with children's playground, tennis courts, pond, flower displays, and a wonderful (licensed) cafe' selling home made food (much better than the English food reputation!) In the summer, there are outdoor theatre shows in the park (Shakespeare and modern).

The centre of Brighton is home to museums, art galleries, cinemas and historic buildings, such as The Royal Pavillion. There are many fine dining restaurants to choose from, and we can recommend some inexpensive eateries. The surrounding countryside (which can be reached easily by bus) is beautiful, with all countryside activities (horse-riding, walking, paragliding) on offer.

The beach is shingle, with Brighton Marina offering fishing trips, speed boat trips and many other activities.
