About our home

We have lived in our beautiful home for the last 10 years and have 4 kids age between 5 and 11. We love the home swap concept and are now fairly seasoned in this! We are interested in points swaps as well as direct swaps.

We are lucky to live in one of the most beautiful parts of England. From our doorstep it is a short walk (or cycle!) up to Ilkley Moor. From there you can enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding countryside which provides a beautiful setting for the spa town of Ilkley. We are a 10 minute walk into Ilkley centre and less than 5 minutes to Ben Rhydding train station which has a direct link to Leeds (30mins). Easily accessible is also York (40mins) and Harrogate (30mins). The surrounding area which includes the stunning Yorkshire Dales National Park is a haven for walkers, cyclists and indeed all those that enjoy the great outdoors. It is the start of the Dales Way, and formed a key part of The Grand Depart for the Tour de France in 2015. Ilkley itself is a hive of activity with lots of independent shops including the famous Betty's tea rooms and a great range of restaurants, pubs and bars. In the summer months you can enjoy river swims in the Wharfe or opt for the more traditional open air swim at Ilkley Lido. Alternatively you can enjoy your Yorkshire ice-cream whilst sat in the gardens of the bandstand on The Grove listening to the local brass band. Add to that the pride, warmth and passion of the Yorkshire locals and you can be assured you'll be spending some great times here!

Our substantial Victorian home, which has been beautifully modernised, yet maintaining its tradition, is suitable for families, groups or couples having plenty of space for everyone. All the rooms enjoy high ceilings and big proportions. Our kitchen extension built several years ago with a floor to ceiling gable end window creates a spacious, light filled, kitchen, dining and lounge area. The dining table extends and can sit 10 comfortably if required. The bi-fold doors from the dining area extend out into the garden where you can enjoy breakfast bathed in the morning sunshine. The kitchen itself is superbly equipped and includes a 5 ring gas hob and double oven.
On the ground floor there are also two large living rooms, one which the kids use as a playroom and another with a more sophisticated feel. The kids room can access directly onto the garden if so wished. There is a log burner which provides a beautiful warmth and cosiness in the winter evenings and in the front lounge we have the original working Victorian open fire.
There is also a toilet on the ground floor, a cloakroom and internal access to the cellar where you can store your wines or alternatively access the washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge and freezer, log store + wetsuits and lifejackets if you're inclined!
Off the landing on the first floor there are two large bedrooms and a big family bathroom with freestanding roll top bath, walk in shower and toilet. The double room on the first floor has a king sized bed, fitted wardrobes, armchair for some peaceful reading and access to a good sized ensuite with bath, overhead shower and toilet. The other room has a great bunk bed, sofa, kids table and chairs, and still plenty of room to run around !
On the top floor there are 3 further bedrooms, one with a double bed, and two with single beds. One of these rooms has a 'trunky' pull out bed underneath in case of a sleep over! In addition on the top floor is a further bathroom with a large shower and toilet.

Outside is a wrap around garden with views from the patioed barbecue area up to the famous Cow and Calf Rock. Enjoy the view whilst enjoying dining al fresco or alternatively watch the kids bouncing on the 10ft trampoline or practicing their ball skills on the astroturfed garden. Younger ones can enjoy playing in the spacious furnished Wendy House. At the front of the house feel free to tend to our small allotment! There is also access from the garden to the external cellar and the house has a drive for off road parking.

Within a couple of minutes walk from the house there is a baker, butcher and a fantastic pub serving great food, The Wheatley Arms.

All your wishes should be amply catered for in this great house in beautiful surroundings!
