Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Llantwit Major is an historic town in the beautiful Vale of Glamorgan. A 40 minute train ride takes you into the centre of metropolitan Cardiff; with its castle, sporting stadiums, many shops and theatres. Another 2 hours and you can be in London.
Llantwit is on the Wales Coast Path and has a number of facilities, including restaurants, shops, leisure centre, beach, historic buildings and plenty of walks. Within an hour's drive from the house is the wonderful Gower peninsula - an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with world-renowned beaches and the Brecon Beacons National Park, for glaciated mountain landscapes.
The house itself is in an enviable position, having countryside views and peace with the town facilities just a short walk away. At night you will hear nothing more than the owls hooting and by day you will be greeted by the friendly dog walkers and joggers passing the house.

Buzzy restaurants
The Swan - good food, historical. The Cwtch - delicious seasonal food, more pricy. Jaipur - very tasty and friendly Indian cuisine. Illtyds 216 - lovely old building, big portions. Vesuvio's - very friendly family-run Italian. No chains!
Cool bars
Lots of pubs to choose from.
Cozy cafés
Wine Street Cafe - lovely coffee and sandwiches, and a 'karma board' where you can give someone a coffee!
Retail therapy
Stwff - full of great little gifts, jewelry and 'stwff' - more friendly staff here!
Bit of culture
Llantwit Major is the oldest seat of learning in Europe. St Illtyd's church was built in the 11th century and is known as The Westminster Abbey of Wales for its unique collection of calved stones and effigies.
Walks in the park
Too many to mention! We will leave a whole bunch of leaflets that outline walks in the area.
Spot of exercise
Surfing and other watersports. Cycling and walking. In Cardiff Bay (40 minutes drive) there is an international sports village where you can ice-skate, white-water raft/canoe, surf a standing wave etc.
Day tripping
There are so many places to visit here - from Wale's capital city to magnificent underground caves. You can visit waterfalls, gorges, beaches, indoor and outdoor museums, theatres, market towns, coal mines, mountains, bird sanctuary islands etc.
