“We had a great weekend break staying in Jo & Robin's light and spacious home. We especially liked the rear garden with its tranquil woodland view. The house is ideally located for visiting Oxford and the surrounding area. It is a very short drive into the middle of town. After a busy day in Oxford it was great to come back to the quiet calm of the close that they live in. Jo & Robin are great hosts, very easy to make arrangements with and full of helpful advice about what to do (and where to park!) in Oxford. We appreciated the wine and chocolate they left us as a welcome gift. They left our house in pristine condition. We would definitely recommend an exchange with Jo & Robin to other home exchangers.”
Jo's reviewsAs a host (5)
“We had a lovely time in Jo's and Robin's home. They are very kind and gave us a LOT of information on what to do. There is a lot to be seen and done in the area. We exchanged cars, but we also used the public transport. It was very convenient and not expensive with a family of 5. The home is very peaceful and comfortable! We had some lovely bbq's and were able to relax after our excursions. We definitely recommend them as exchange partners! ”
“Jo's home is very convenient for visiting Oxford, just a short bus ride from the City centre, in fact there is a Sustrans cycle track immediately behind the house where you can walk half of the journey then take the bus. Walk all the way about 40 minutes. The house is perfect for a family of three, or just two as were we. Good kitchen, comfortable lounge diner with everything you might need. Jo here self is lovely, and made her home very welcoming.”
“My first home exchange was an excellent experience due to the fact, that Jo’s cosy house offers easy access to incredible Oxford on an only 10 minutes busride as well as to the beauties of the surrounding Cotswolds and London! Jo is a prudent host, who cared for all and everything – provided lots of information, even food as my first day at her home was a public holiday. Located in a safe neighbourhood with helpful neighbours, I can only recommend her home to others. Thanks again, Jo!”
“We had a wonderful week in Oxford in Jo's cosy house. It is situated in a calm and green area, your personal squirrel awaits you on the garden wall. A short stroll along a park and passing by her friendly local pub, takes you to the main road. Very frequent buses take you in a few minutes to the centre. There are a number of shops and a great variety of restaurants near by, a tour of the world in just one stretch of street. I think I don't have to explain the wonders and delights of Oxford, with its incredible mix of architecture, museums, churches, bookshops, bicycles, pubs, choirs and nature. We had the pleasure to meet Jo, she's a kind and lovely person. We give her a big, big Thank You for this perfect exchange!”
Where is it?
We've lived here since getting married and love the fact that although it is close to the centre of Oxford, you have the countryside right on your doorstep. You can walk to Radley College through the woods at the bottom of the garden or cycle up to Thrupp Lake and along the path to the pretty market town of Abingdon upon Thames. For those that enjoy the peace of the countryside as well as being close to the cultural city of Oxford, this house is perfectly situated. Oxford is a beautiful city full of culture and historic sights such as the Bodleian library, Sheldonian Theatre, and of course the University Colleges. There are many parks and meadows and the famous Christchurch Cathedral (where Harry Potter was filmed), and Magdalen College (part of the CS Lewis trail). Other local attractions include the Cotswolds, Blenheim Palace, Waterperry Gardens, Waddesdon Manor, The Oxfordshire Golf Club, Oxfordshire Way, Bicester Shopping Village and Swan Antiques Centre. There are some fantastic restaurants including the famous Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons at Great Milton and Oxford is only 1 hour from Central London and Birmingham. Stratford (home of Shakespeare) - takes just over an hour if you drive the scenic route through Woodstock and the Cotswolds. The thatched cottages on route are beautiful.
