About our home

We live in the middle of kent. Forty-five minutes by train to London and about the same to the coast. We are both of retiring age having lived in the family home for over 40 years. We have four grown up children and love having them over for barbecues. We have three small sheepdogs and two tame sheep in the paddock. It has a very large garden mostly grass with lots of trees and a croquet lawn.
The house is a bungalow, with large open rooms with lots of light having large windows. The house is easy to clean with rugs and laminate floor in the sitting room with vinyl tiles elsewhere. We have two double bedrooms and two single. We will leave a Renaught Automatic Cleo for your use if agreed. The kitchen is mostly pine with a dresser one end and a dining room the other. The table seats up to eight people. The kitchen door is a pine stable door leading out onto a large patio with vine and wisteria trellis overhead.

We love living down a small country lane with a scattering of houses mostly people we have known a long time.
We love our local church which is an Anglican/Methodist church and very lively and friendly.
We enjoy cycling in the area where there are lots of wonderful pubs serving lovely food within a short distance.
It is a 20 minute walk to the station which is a direct line to London (50 Mins) and Dover (50mins) and to the continent via Eurostar or the Ferries.
There are regular farmer markets in the surrounding towns and villages. There are lots of lovely walks and the National Trust properties abound. There are some picturesque large houses with gardens open to the public that we enjoy visiting and historis towns like Tunbridge Wells, Canterbury and Tenterden are a delight to visit. There are local galleries, cinemas and theatres and we like to take the car and paint pictures of pretty bridges over rivers and boats in the local area.
Rye is a cinque port 40mins away by car and is a delightful drive and quaint town overlooking the Romney Marsh full of history from smuggling and fishing. We love going to some of the coastal towns like whitstable, hastings and broadstairs where time seems to have stood still and to come back with fresh local fish.

My husband and I are both of retiring age. I manage a structured day programme in Maidstone for people with addictions and am a social worker by profession. My husband has always worked with horticulture and used to manage a nursery for the same organisation that I continue to work for. We have grown up children and it may be that my so, a teacher, and his wife and two small children may wish to join us on holiday. We will be leaving our dogs with our daughter in Chatham. We love people, we enjoy walking and painting. We love going to London and visiting the galleries especially the Tate Modern and the theatre.
