About our home

My home located in the country village of Laughton situated on a working farm estate surrounded by the picturesque South Downs. It is a single storey, semi detached converted barn cottage with three main living areas. An extremely spacious, well equipped kitchen/diner with a high Oak beamed ceiling and beautiful views of the South Downs, making washing up a pleasure not a chore. Adjacent lies my cosy living room with French windows leading out to a beautiful garden teaming with flowers and a vegetable patch. The large patio is a perfect location to sit and enjoy the many beautiful birds that come to feed from my bird tables including woodpeckers, Blue Tits, Robins, Sparrows and Chaffinches. The bedroom is very large and airy with a comfortable king size bed and ample wardrobe and draw space. My bathroom, too is large with a very elaborate deep set bath and separate shower.
At the front of the property is a large secluded courtyard which is perfectly placed for the morning sun and is nice and sheltered from the wind. It has an outside storage area with an extra fridge and where the gas BBQ is stored during the winter months. I am part of a small, friendly community of folk who live on the busy working farm belonging to Chris and Claire, so although I enjoy the peace and privacy of country living, I never feel cut off or isolated. The cottage is accessed by a private gated gravel drive that winds between open fields of sheep, horses and bunny rabbits. The farm also runs a popular dog kennel which is located a minute walk from the cottage. Although the dogs can be heard during the day from 8am onwards, at night the silence of the location is perfection.
Though a car is essential, you can enjoy many walks hereabout. There is a lovely lake on the farm and footpaths through woodlands and fields. I would be pleased to loan my car as part of the agreement, I have a manual 5 door Ford Focus. There is a well-stocked village store and post office 5 minutes drive from the property and banks, restaurants and pubs in Ringmer (4miles). The historical county town of Lewes (8 miles) is a wonderful place to visit it is a truly beautiful County Town of great historic interest. It has many good restaurants, cafes, shops and a market day. It also has a mainline station and you can be in London in an hour or Brighton in 15 minutes from here. Gatwick Airport is only 45 minutes on the train or 1 hours drive.
