Where is it?

Walsingham consists of two villages - Little Walsingham and Great Walsingham - in the English county of Norfolk. Little Walsingham is famed for its religious shrines and is a major pilgrimage center for both Anglicans and Catholics. It also contains the ruins of two medieval monastic houses. The houses in the center of Little Walsingham are medieval and half timbered. Many other houses in the villages are the traditional brick and flint of North Norfolk. The village is close to the spectacular North Norfolk Coast where you can explore the beautiful beaches of Holkham, Wells-next-the-Sea, Sherringham, Cromer, Brancaster and Hunstanton. In the village of Walsingham there are some great places to eat and drink, particularly the Black Lion Walsingham, the Noroflk Riddle and the Walsingham Barns and Cafe. At Christmas, you can experience the magic of Christmas at the Thursford Christmas show in the next door village of Thursford as well as Santa's Magical Journey. North Norfolk has become populated with many trendy places to eat as well as several country houses of historic note including Blicking, Holkham, Felbrigg, Haughton, Oxborough. The village itself is very friendly and the locals always have time to stop and have a chat. The village is also host to an award winning farm shop with amazing local produce and well as butcher and deli, wines etc.. Being a quiet rural location it is one of the few places in England which is designated as an area of black sky, meaning there are fantastic views of the stars to be had on any clear night. The City of Norwich can be reached in under and hour where there is the historic cathedral and fabulous shops and restaurants as well as art, theater, museums etc.
