We are a happy, adventurous Australian/New Zealand family living in London. We live in a beautiful, spacious and inviting open plan home in West London just 20 minutes Tube from Central London. Our home is perfect for both family groups and adult only breaks.
We absolutely love where we live, and know you will too. Exploring the city of London, walking and playing in the local parks, cycling down the canals, going further afield to explore the villages outside of London -- or just relaxing at home enjoying a barbecue and glass of wine in the sunshine while the kids play, jump on the trampoline or make new friends at summer camp.
We are perfectly situated to get the best out of London -- both the sights of Central London, and the parks and canals of the West. The Piccadilly tube (metro) is a three minute walk away, giving you fast, direct access into Central London. Our home is also across the road from large parks, playing areas, football fields, basketball courts, and the Grand Union Canal -- a rare and amazing bonus in a big city. The sports fields and park space opposite our home are huge, and there is another enormous open space just 10 mins walk in the other direction as well.
For families with kids, there are summer camps for kids at the end of our road (3mins walk), using the big indoor sports centre (where they have trampolining and all kinds of activities) and the outside sports grounds and facilities. They offer half day or full day camps for children.
Our spacious 220 sqm home is beautifully modernised and extended -- designed with relaxed living in mind and high end equipment for added luxury (Miele appliances). A lovely 60sqm open plan living area with doors that open onto the garden is the central living area of the house. We have also converted our large front lounge into a playroom for chilldren -- giving parents a bit of space from toys and a chance to relax in the hot tub while the kids imagine they are knights and princesses, play board games, or chill out with a movie.
We have four bedroms. One large Super King master (35-37sqm) with doors overlooking the garden plus a large contemporary ensuite on the top floor. The large children's bedroom with two full size single beds is on the 1st floor, along with our big guest bedroom with a queen bed. Our smaller fourth bedroom (single) is also on the first floor -- we are currently using this room as a gym. We also have a single bed that converts into a Super King bed in the playroom for extra guests, which we use as our fourth bedroom for extra visitors.
Our garden is a good size for London. We have a big trampoline for the kids, and a bbq and lovely outdoor furniture to relax with on a warm evening. The doors to our open plan living area open wide onto our beautiful planted garden, creating a beautiful outdoor/indoor space. In summer, our garden is full of flowers, organic vegetables and herbs -- a beautiful place to talk and laugh while the kids play on the trampoline or splash in a paddling pool. If fruit and veg ripen when you are here, help yourself!
There is air conditioning in the master bedroom and open plan lounge -- great for the occasional heat wave (doesn't get much use...). We also have central heating throughout the house.
We welcome both couples, families or singles to stay in our home. It is perfectly suited for any group. Either small kids or teenagers are also welcome. If you have young kids, we have a stroller you can borrow and we still have two high chairs. . We also have bikes to suit different ages -- three adult bikes, and kids bikes to suit ages 5-6, and 6-10. We also have helmets for all of the bikes. And we have scooters for the kids too if we aren't using them -- two for younger kids, and two for older children.
We would take wonderful care of your home and are looking for swaps that would take the same care with ours. We always leave homes extremely clean and tidy, and past swappers have commented that they didn't even know we had been. We always do everything we can to care for the homes we are in.
We have had five amazing swaps now, and they've all been brilliant and enjoyed by us and swapping families.
Note that we have two small, friendly, short haired cats that are adored by everyone who visits. We just had one of our first swappers come back to visit from Dubai -- not to visit us, but really so that they could see our cat again. We can put in a cattery, however we vastly prefer for them to stay with our guests if they are open to having a furry friend hanging about.
