Our house in Stoke Newington is on a quiet, residential street, 10 mins from Manor House tube (Picadilly Line) and a couple streets from beautiful Clissold Park. Public transport is excellent both by tube and buses- British Museum, Covent Garden, the Theatre District, Harrods and Hyde Park, Piccadilly Circus, and Kings Cross are all directly accessible.
The Victorian house features wooden floors in main rooms, decorative fireplaces, and a well-equipped kitchen that overlooks the back garden. There are 3 bedrooms in total, two have double beds and one is a child's room with a single bed. We can provide a toddler's bed if needed. There are 2 bathrooms (one with bath and one with shower).
You are welcome to use our WiFi (good speed throughout whole house), espresso machine, and BAR-B-Q in garden.
For local activities, we are 5 minutes walk from Stoke Newington Church Street where there are many restaurants, cafes, delis, boutiques, pubs, post office, and a great bakery. Clissold Park has wonderful cafe overlooking a deer enclosure and the New River; quite a special place in the middle of London! Stoke Newington is a great place to be based as it has a village-like feel without compromising transport to the rest of the city.
Within easy reach are Dalston's many clubs, bars, live music venues, and vintage shops; London Fields' Broadway Market which has loads of good places to eat and drink, plus an excellent Saturday market; Shoreditch's music venues, design shops, bars, restaurants, and two famous markets Brick Lane Sunday Market & Spitalfields Market.
My husband and I are both involved in the arts and we take advantage of living in London as much as possible by knowing what's new and interesting. We love good food and are always on the look out for new places. We have a comprehensive list of local tips and maps. We cycle often and can provide maps of bike routes if you choose to rent Barclay bikes.
We have lived in London since 1996, take advantage of our knowledge!
We are a freelance photographer and artist/lecturer with a 5 year old and lots of travel experience. We are looking for swaps year-round during school holidays: France (particularly short-breaks to Paris), Greece, and Italy are favourites.
We are interested summer house swaps in Maine, USA since we have family in Maine's Portland/Casco Bay region and love to visit this area; as well as the Mid-Coast region of Maine, islands included!
We exchanged our London home for a lovely house in Scarborough, Maine in 2010 for 3 weeks. This was a great experience, we look forward to many more exchanges!
