About our home

My bright, recently modernised, garden flat is ideally located for you to experience everything London has to offer. It is a 15 minute walk, or a quick bus ride to vibrant, trendy Camden Town with its world famous market and music venues and great choice of restaurants and bars, or to the great new Kings Cross development with its entertainment and restaurants.

My flat is big for a London one bedroom. It is on the ground floor of a terraced house. I have lived here for 34 years, so you can tell I like it! Last year I had major renovations. The kitchen is brand new, fully fitted, including a dishwasher. I installed real wood flooring throughout, except the kitchen and bathroom, which are tiled.

The sitting room is large and I have a folding dining table there which will comfortably seat 4, or you can have it half open to seat 2. There is a small desk. There is a new 40 inch HD TV with a cable subscription, and a Bluetooth soundbar. The high speed Internet works best there, but it works ok in the bedroom also. The 3-seater sofa converts to a sofabed in case you have guests for a night or two.

The bedroom is at the back of the flat, so there is no traffic noise. It has a double bed, and the bathroom is ensuite with a full sized bath and separate shower. The toilet is separate, off the hallway. The bedroom also has french windows which open into the conservatory which has a small seating area. The jewel of my flat is the plant-filled private walled garden. Just the place to relax after a hard day's sightseeing!

The entire flat was rewired two years ago, the gas boiler and cooker are serviced by an authorised gas fitter and there are smoke alarms and a carbon dioxide alarm.

I am very fond of my flat, especially since I had the renovations done! So it will be great if other people can enjoy it on a mutual exchange. Because it is one bedroom with a double bed and no space to put another bed in that room, it is really only suited to a couple or a single person.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The location of the flat is excellent. In about 15 minutes you can walk to the ever popular Camden Town for shopping, music, food and drink. Or even closer is the impressive new Kings Cross development, arts, entertainments and loads of new restaurants and bars. There is a nice small local park just across the road from my flat, or you can walk along the canal towpath. There is a small supermarket 5 minutes walk up the road and a health food shop a bit further up, but I usually shop in Camden Town, which has a wide range of shops and supermarkets and restaurants. There are several pubs within a few minutes walk, and a very good modern Vietnamese restaurant, a fish and chip shop, a cafe and a sandwich shop all about 100 metres away.

My flat is excellent for public transport, there are bus stops right outside with regular busses.The 390 bus goes past Kings Cross and St Pancras, which has many Underground lines, mainline trains to northern England and Scotland, and the Eurostar train to Paris or Brussels. ( Several visitors I have had have done a daytrip to Paris from my flat!) The 390 then goes past the British Library, the British Museum then along Oxford Street. The 274 goes in one direction to the centre of trendy Islington, popular for shopping and eating, and in the other direction to Camden Town, then past London Zoo, Regents Park then Selfridges in Oxford Street. It is a 10 minute walk (or hop on the 274) to Caledonian Road tube station. This is the very useful Piccadilly line. Also close is the London Overground which goes west-east from attractive Richmond or Kew Gardens in the west to the Olympic legacy area of Stratford in the east.
