About our home

We offer a spacious ground floor garden flat with a large living room, in a great location, very peaceful and 5 minutes walk away from the antique stalls and trendy shops in Angel. Its covers 2 floors of a Georgian townhouse and is situated in an old bakery with the living space on one floor (ground) leading out to a small back garden. The shop front (entrance) is south facing with full height glazing so there is always plenty of natural light. The lounge area has high ceilings, wooden floors, period features, fireplace and sash windows at the back.
A spiral staircase leads down to the kitchen, bathroom and 2 bedrooms. The kitchen is really well equipped with plenty of character, as the old bakery ovens are still in tact. Then there is one small single bedroom and one double (both carpeted) so it would suit 3 persons staying comfortably (although more could sleep on the sofa upstairs). From the double bedroom there are double patio doors leading outside and back up into the garden, which has a seating area and is lovely if the weather's nice.

More about us

  1. We are Sara and Chris (32 and 41) and have lived in London for 5 years. I am an Interior Designer and Chris is an artist, so there are plenty of interesting books on art, decent literature, and a great collection of music on our PC. We are definitely open to offers but would love to go to Manhattan in Spring 2011 for 2 weeks or longer. We can offer some great recommendations on the area to suit whoever we swap with. We are non-smokers who will look after where we stay and would hope the same in return, naturally.

Where is it?

Its really peaceful here, you can hear birds singing in the back garden. Its a lovely area to walk around, very quiet because many of the roads have been blocked off to cars. The streets are old market streets, so really wide and even the police ride around on horses!
We are 2 mins walk from Regents Canal with some lovely places to eat and plenty of bars and traditional local pubs nearby. Then if you walk up into Angel (5mins) you have Upper Street with trendy shops, plenty of restaurants and on Saturdays and Wednesdays there are the antiques markets. Its also a 20 min walk to the Barbican Centre, which is a great for arts and culture.
If you want nightlife, you can get to Shoreditch, Hoxton or Old Street in 15 minutes where there are absolutely loads of bars and some clubs. Shoreditch is still considered really cool, or you could go to Dalston, which is even more trendy these days and home to local artists, students and designers. Slightly further afield there is the East End, Spitalfields Market, Hackney or Brick Lane, Camden, Kings Cross and Clerkenwell.
The area is served very well with busses every 5 minutes straight into the West End, Covent Garden, Soho & Piccadilly (20mins bus journey - good for london!) so its great if you want to go shopping. The busses run 24 hours back home too, so no need for expensive taxis.
