We have a large, family, five bedroomed semi detached house in North London (Camden). We refurbished the house around ten years ago, and have done some further updating in 2014. Our house is a lovely oasis to return to after a day touring London.
We love the Edinburgh Festival and are keen to find a swap for August 2017 - come and explore London in the sunshine!
Our house comfortably accommodates 9+ people. Downstairs there is an open plan living area (with fire), dining and kitchen, with a separate office (with PC) and second living area/study (with gas fire and grand piano) upstairs. There are four double bedrooms (including the king size master bedroom on the top floor which also has an en suite), a very large single bedroom (single bed but 2 single mattresses for the floor available), plus family bathroom (with separate shower). The laundry with washer and dryer is situated in the cellar. We have a small but delightful garden, with outside furniture, pizza oven, hammock and gas bbq.
Our home is particularly well suited for a family that has young boys ... we have lego, xbox games, endless DVDs etc.
Kentish Town is a lively and mixed inner city neighbourhood, with terraced houses. As you would expect, there is a vast range of excellent restaurants, traditional and modern pubs, cocktails bars (traditional and quirky), theatres and music venues within walking distance or a short journey by public transport. We are also close to Hampstead Heath (a large, green and natural oasis), and the smarter parts of town such as Highgate and Hampstead. Equally, the grittier and vibrant Camden and Camden Market is just a short walk. Other areas of interest nearby are London Zoo, Regents Park and the canal.
For children, we have a number of small playgrounds nearby, as well as two public swimming pools (one with slide), and a Lido.
We are very close to the centre of London (British Museum is just 4.5 kilometres away). A great location for touring the sites, we are about 300 metres from nearest tube, overground and main bus stop, and can be in the centre of town in 20 minutes. We are in Zone 2 on the Northern line (2 stops from Kings Cross Station).
A number of small supermarkets are all within walking distance. Basically, anything you need is close by.
We have done one formal house swap, and many informal swaps over the years. We are very used to having people live in our house, and are very respectful of others' homes.
We can provide you with more photos if interested.
