About our home

A well maintained five bedroom family home in a quiet, leafy suburb of London. The house itself is approx 100 years old, and still maintains many of the origional features. There are two good sized comfortable living rooms, containing cable TV, CD and radio. The back room looks out onto the garden through French windows. The kitchen is newly fitted out and is large enough to seat 8 people at the dining table it contains. The utility room contains a washing machine, tumble drier and a bike which can be used whenever wanted. There are 5 bedrooms; two doubles, one with an en suite WC and shower, and 3 singles. There is also a sofa bed in one of the living rooms if extra sleeping space is needed. The garden is mature and shady. In the summer its a great place to sit out in the cool of the evening.

More about us

  1. Our names are David and Lesley. We are both educators by profession and David is currently the immediate past president of the United Kingdom Literacy Association. We love walking and reading (but not necessarily at the same time!) as well as seeing new places. We have 3 sensible children, aged 21, 19 and 19. We also have two cats that would need (very low level) looking after - basically feeding once a day! We are relatively new to exchanging having swapped once before. We like to arrange things well in advance so that we can do everything to ensure that arrangements proceed smoothly to everyone's satisfaction.

Neighbourhood

There is easy access to both city and the countryside. Our local tube station (5 minutes drive) gets you to St Paul's Cathedral in 15-20 minutes. Wanstead is our local part of London (where the tube station is) and has shops, supermarket and some very nice restaurants, although, of course, the best eating is to be had in the array of eating places further into the city. Also the lovely city of Cambridge is within a 45 minute drive and the Essex countryside easily accessible for rambling and pub lunches! There is an attractive park with ponds nearby which is great for walking in if you just want a lazy day.
