About our home

Situated directly opposite West Kensington metro station, this gorgeous apartment has been newly renovated by an interior designer with stunning results. Its Kensington location gives you easy access to all the delights of London. Wifi standard. I live here with my two daughters but go away at weekends and as I’m a teacher, I also have long school holidays to enjoy so the flat is often available.

The flat was completely renovated in early 2015 by a team of master builders headed by a gifted interior designer. She has created a stunning home, which combines bohemian luxury with abundant comfort – something I adore and am sure you will too. The flat comprises three double bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, living room and west-facing balcony for afternoon sun. Wifi is standard.

The flat’s location in Kensington means that all that London has to offer is virtually on your doorstep and as it’s right next door to the tube you can come home and flop without that last tiring walk or bus ride…

More about us

  1. I live in my apartment with 2 of my daughters, aged 22 and 10.

  2. I am a school teacher and so am able to swap in school holidays.

  3. We are able to travel in school holidays for a period of 2 weeks maximum so very long haul destinations would not be an option for us. I would like to go somewhere with a beach during the summer holidays if possible!

Neighbourhood

The flat is near several supermarkets and there are also delis and cafés dotted about for little treats. The flat is three tube stops away from South Kensington station, where you can visit the Natural History and Victoria and Albert Museums and then perhaps wander down to Harrods in Knightsbridge afterwards, which is 10 minute's walk from the museums. The flat's just two stops away from shopping heaven Kensington High Street and three stops from trendy Notting Hill, where you can amble down the famous Portobello Road and peruse the ubiquitous fashion boutiques and antique shops. West End theatreland and Chelsea's retail paradise The King's Road are all short tube journeys away – that's the beauty of staying in Kensington. If you need some calm and tranquility after the buzz of the city, I would recommend the beautiful Kew Gardens (half an hour west on the District Line) - definitely worth a visit - take a picnic and stay the whole day if you can. Slightly closer to home there's Holland Park of course – go and admire the Italian sunken garden and laze around on the lawns (you are allowed on the grass in London parks!). In the immediate neighbourhood, there are plenty of cafes, restaurants and deli's to keep you sustained with culinary delights. We particularly like Best Mangal where we order the lamb shish and grilled halloumi and we like Eat-Aroi Thai street food restaurant at no.100 North End Road. Of course no visit to London would be complete without a visit to an English pub – the nearest nice one is the Curtains Up, 28A Comeragh Rd, London, Barons Court W14 9HR which also does food. You could also take the tube to Hammersmith (two stops) and in five minutes you'll be walking along the Thames riverbank where there are some lovely pubs which look out onto the river. Try a pint of English bitter with your pub lunch here on a sunny afternoon. On your return from a busy day out, you will be ecstatic that the flat is immediately next to the metro (I know from experience!). Kick off your shoes and take a soak in the Victorian cast-iron roll top bath and you will feel fresh as a daisy!
Getting around
The apartment is directly opposite West Kensington tube station (District Line). If you have a contactless debit card (one with a wifi radar sign on it), use that to get you through the barriers - it will debit your account with the same price as an Oystercard, which you will have to buy if you don't have one of these debit cards.
