About our home

The Grade II Listed Georgian property dates from 1826 and is situated in Wilmington Square, a leafy sanctuary in the heart of London’s fashionable Clerkenwell, immediately adjacent to Sadler’s Wells Theatre and the award-winning gastronomic delights of Exmouth Market. The property has recently been restored, revealing timber panelling, stone fireplaces and a stone courtyard that had been covered up for decades.

The pine-boarded Reception Room is spacious and bright with a high ceiling and features a large, stone fireplace with wood burning stove. The room is decorated with Mid-century Modern Ercol dining suite, glass pedant lights, a generous sofa and sheepskin rugs. Entertainment is provided in the form of a television with DVD/CD player.

The reception room looks out on to a private York Stone paved courtyard with the Plane Trees of Wilmington Square beyond. The Courtyard has an oak bench and landscaped planters with foliage gently illuminated by uplighters. The original storage vaults under the street provide a secure store for guests’ bicycles.

The Bedroom at the rear of the property has white painted timber panelling and a stone fireplace surround. In addition to the double bed, this quiet, bright room is equipped with twin wardrobes, a desk and blackout blinds. The bedroom will accommodate two, but the comfortable sofa in the reception room can be converted for two further guests.

The modern Kitchen offers a good sized working area for even the most enthusiastic cooks and is well equipped with induction hob, microwave, oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine.

The architect-owned and restored property has wide board solid wood floors and cast iron radiators throughout and period toggle light switches that offer alternative lighting scenes. The owners, Anna and Mike live and have their studio in the building above.

The property is within walking distance of many of London’s major attractions, St Paul’s, Tate Modern, The British Museum and the Sir John Soane Museum are all close by. Kings Cross, Angel Islington and Farringdon Stations are all convenient while travelling 10-20 minutes by bus will bring visitors to Covent Garden, the West End and the South Bank.
