About our home

Set on the second floor of a classic Notting Hill townhouse our apartment has high ceilings and original features, including sash windows overlooking the street outside. We have renovated it to include a new kitchen area with integrated appliances and it's furnished in a modern style with some period touches. The living room is large and has two double pull-out sofa beds and a lovely parquet wooden floor. There's a small entrance hall and a contemporary bathroom with shower/bath. To the rear is a small double bedroom which has wardrobe space and overlooks gardens and mews houses. The square footage is 471.
We also have a four bedroom home in rural South Derbyshire which is part of a converted Georgian manor house which we would also consider exchanging. Can provide photos and more details on request.

Features

More about us

  1. We use the apartment for part of the week as my husband works in the City as a lawyer and at other times from our house in rural South Derbyshire. I took early retirement from teaching and so get the best of both worlds! This will be out first time exchanging properties and we would hope to make you very welcome in our London home and would be happy to exchange lots of information about the neighbourhood. We adore travelling and our favourite place in the world is New York City...but we're open to all opportunities. If in Europe we would prefer a shorter exchange along the lines of a long weekend or a week in the holidays.

Neighbourhood

Notting Hill is one of the most famous, cosmopolitan areas of central London with pretty streets, boutiques, galleries and historic sights in the surrounding area. Westbourne Grove with it's mix of designer names, organic delis and independent shops is just around the corner. www.westbourne-grove.com Portobello Road and the famous market (in full swing on a Saturday) is a leisurely 15 minute walk away and there's a definite 'village' feeling to the area. We are also a ten minute tube ride away from Westfield, one of the largest designer/high street shopping centres in Europe. http://uk.westfield.com/london
The street itself is very quiet as it's totally residential and there are some lovely restaurants, independent coffee shops and pubs within very close walking distance as well as supermarkets and Whiteley's Shopping Centre and cinema complex. www.whiteleys.com It's a lovely place just to meander around while the central location also means that the whole of London is within easy reach. Hyde Park is a 15 minute walk and there are small squares and gardens to explore on foot within a few hundred yards. Royal Oak underground station is five minutes walk (with the Heathrow Express coming into the next stop at Paddington Station) and there are two other underground stations within easy reach in order to hop onto different lines. You're soon into the bustle of Oxford Street, West End Theatres and the many galleries and museums. You can just relax in the parks or set off sightseeing.
Watching 'Notting Hill' before you visit isn't compulsory but my two teenage daughters delight in location-spotting. Although we've seen many celebs who live in the area, no Hugh Grant so far!
