About our home

Our house is situated in the tiny village of Harford. Completed in 1900, it is reputed to be the last all-granite house build on Dartmoor. It has a large Smallbone kitchen (with table sitting up to eight) plus separate dining room, sitting room (with satelite TV), study, large conservatory (with yet more dining space), all with wooden floors and 10ft (3m) high ceilings.
Upstairs are four double bedrooms, 3 bath/shower rooms, and a galleried landing BUT WE DON'T USUALLY LET VISITORS USE MORE THAN 3 BEDROOMS AND 2 BATH/SHOWER ROOMS as we prefer to keep our own bedroom un-used - far to difficult to clear it for visitors. Hence the listing showing only 3 bedrooms, two of which are large double aspect rooms, with the other smaller. All have double beds.
17 acres of land include a well fenced 2 acres of garden (containing several lawns, two of which have dining tables in the summer) and 3 small fields leading westwards down to 10 acres of woodland, within which is a 1/2 mile frontage on the river Erme which forms the Western border of our property.
The house is 700 ft (200m) up on the Southern tip of the Dartmoor National Park, with beautiful views of the sunset. We have two lovely, friendly, boisterous flat-coated retrievers, which we sometimes want to leave at home. We charge reduced points if you look after the dogs (but that does mean exercising them, not just feeding).

Easy access to walks across Dartmoor and the beautiful beaches of the South Hams.

The town of Ivybridge is 1.5 miles South, with plenty of shops. Another 10 minutes away is a 24 hr Tesco.
The towns of Dartmouth and Salcombe well worth a visit.
Several good restaurants within 15 minutes drive.

More about us

  1. Active but retired couple, with an adorable flat-coated retriever, who can stay at home if visitors would like to look after him. We reduce the points we charge if you do this.
(Our pictures show two dogs, but Charlie's mother is no longer)

  2. In addition to normal swaps we are also quite open to people visiting for short periods while we are at home - so if you want a short break in Devon, or fancy a few days with us before moving on, get in touch.
