***17th Century Timber-Framed Cottage***
Our lovely home is set in the tranquil village of Ashby Parva in Leicestershire, full of period features, with the older part of the house dating back to the mid 17th century. We have been renovating since we moved here six years ago. Our children have loved this house, with its quirky features, cubby holes and two staircases - great for hide and seek!
The house comprises of:
* sitting room with open fire
* family room
* dining kitchen
* downstairs wc
* separate clothes washing/drying area.
* Master bedroom with door leading to landing with access to shower room and stairs to sitting room
* Bedrrom 2 - Double bedroom
* Bedroom 3 - set up with single bed, but second single can be added on request
* Bedroom 4 - single bed.
* Family bathroom with shower cubicle.
Outside there is a walled, secure garden to the rear, with off-road parking via a shared drive behind the property. We are having a front doorway reinstated in March 2015 so there will be access from Main Street. We are a non-smoking family and would ask that any smoking is done outside the property.
Our small village has a pub with good traditional pub food, and many surrounding villages have pubs and eateries, including Thai, Indian and Chinese food, and some excellent restaurants can be recommended further afield.
Our home is positioned in the centre of England, with excellent access to historical Nottingham (Robin Hood!) and Stratford upon Avon (William Shakespeare) as well as Leicester recently being established as the resting place of King Richard III and home of the Leicester Tigers, top rugby team.
We are approx 8 miles away from the famous town of Rugby and its train station, you can catch regular trains to London which can have you in the capital in as little as 50 minutes. Both Birmingham and East Midlands airports are less than an hour's drive.
We are mainly looking to visit France/Italy during the school summer holidays for two weeks between 25th July - end of August as we like to drive to our destinations where possible but are very happy to consider any requests, particularly the Carribean. Thank you for considering our home.
