About our home

Our 17th century barn nestles into the hillside above the Romney marshes... Where Henry V111 once built his ships.. There are many wonderful walks along the many small rivers teeming with swans and bird life...... and yet we are still only five mins from the bustling town of Tenterden and 10 mins from Rye.

We are also lucky to have castles such as Bodiam and Leeds, not to mention some of the loveliest gardens in England on our doorstep.. Sissinghurst is 10 mins away and Chartwell an hours drive...We are also fortunate to have a 15th century National Trust house at the bottom of our drive... it has a small theatre attached and during the summer months it holds many concerts and plays in the light evenings.

Our converted barn has five double bedrooms, three are on suite with three large reception rooms. We have an open inglenook fireplace in the drawing room which keeps us cosy in the winter months. There is a large open plan kitchen and dining area which opens onto an enclosed walled courtyard overlooking our horse pond. This courtyard enjoys south facing views and in the summer months lends itself to long supper parties under the stars.

We also have a self contained annex which has two further bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen/breakfast room and own lounge for those wanting to bring parents or other family members..

It must be said the house is definitely for older families (over 12yrs) though my sister's children enjoy the freedom this house provides... We are lucky to have about an acre to wander in and enjoy the views of the surrounding countryside.

This house has character and style of it's own which will appeal to anyone wanting to be away from the crowds and yet near to all the activities and people an urban life can provide... We are a stone's throw away from the bustling market town of Tenterden with restaurants, cafes and shops and friday market. For those wanting to enjoy local sporting activities there is also a sports centre, swimming pool and golf course. We are also very fortunate to get to Camber Sands and Rye within a fifteen mins drive where you can windsurf and waterski etc.

If all this wasn't enough we are an hour and a half from Paris and an hour from London.. What more do we need to say...
