Our home is a warm and inviting 19th Century cottage in a quintessentially beautiful English village. Totally refurbished in 2010, the cottage is both welcoming, and light and bright. Two formal living rooms are found on the ground floor, equipped with TVs, a piano, a Victorian fireplace and a wood burning stove. The large open plan kitchen has a large dining table, a sofa and armchairs, a breakfast bar and is flooded with overhead natural light. Folding doors open on to a charming garden that in turn leads through a gate to a pretty river. Upstairs is the master bedroom with large private bathroom with roll top bathtub and shower. There are 3 further bedrooms and a further bathroom, also equipped with a bathtub and shower.
Ramsbury in Wiltshire is a beautiful English village with thatched cottages, a church dating back to the thirteenth century, two excellent pubs and is situated in some of the loveliest countryside in England. It has frequently been crowned ‘Best kept village in Wiltshire’. A spiders web of paths surround the village and will lead you over rivers, and through picturesque fields and hills. First class tennis courts are a two minute walk from the house. Horseback riding and golf are also available. Ramsbury is just 60 minutes from London, 40 minutes from Oxford and 50 minutes from Bath. A train departs hourly to London from nearby Hungerford (7 minutes). The scenic market town of Marlborough is just 10 minutes away with many restaurants and upmarket shopping. In the surrounding area are Stonehenge and a number of grand country houses such as Blenheim Palace and Stourhead. Also nearby are the historic cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury. And the villagers of Ramsbury are very friendly!
Jonathan is a director of an IT company, and an enthusiastic landscape painter with an art school background. Astrid teaches in our local village and is Uruguayan in origin. Our daughters, Mia and Lucia, are both keen horse riders and tennis players, and love living in Wiltshire.
As a family we spent 3 years living aboard our catamaran as we sailed from the Caribbean across the Pacific to Australia. We love foreign travel, and we see home exchanging as the best way to experience new horizons.
