About our home
Mill Grange is a beautifully presented detached converted watermill, fully refurbished and tastefully furnished to provide a high standard of accommodation throughout. A former working watermill, the property is set at the head of Old Mill Creek and adjacent to woodland walks belonging to descendants of Sir Walter Raleigh. The cottage combines many traditional features - such as original oak crossbeams and exposed stone walls - with contemporary and stylish modern day comforts. An ideal holiday retreat if you want high quality accommodation within easy reach of Dartmouth and the stunning Start Bay coastline.
LOCATION Old Mill Creek is an idyllic tidal inlet just off the main River Dart estuary approximately a mile or so from the historic naval town of Dartmouth. Small boats can be launched at high tide with Dartmouth, Dittisham and Totnes all within easy reach. Dartmouth's array of boutiques, restaurants and tea rooms, as well as the picturesque River Dart are all accessible within a (steep) 20-30 minute walk, or about 5 minutes in the car, whilst the award winning Blackpool Sands beach is just a short drive away. Woodlands Theme Park and Dartmouth Golf and Country Club are just 3-4 miles away.

As a host (15)“Fantastic property, very high standard interior and a location tucked away to give you that quiet country feel. The hosts communicated all the way through the booking and stay. Highly recommended- our family loved it - Thank you so much ”
“Along 10 years exchanging our house, this property and experience is one of the best we've been on. The house is very big, recently renewed, well decorated, plenty of details, excellently furnished specially high quality sofas and beds, very charmy for winter or bad weather and with stunning views of the river. The day we arrived was cold and raining heavy showers. After a long and exhausting car trip, we got shocked by the charmy ambient of the big saloon, indirect lighting, and big windows to the river. We fired the closed fireplace on (it was already prepared full of wood and paper), played some smooth jazz on the Bose speaker and chilled down on the relax leather sofas with a glass of wine enjoying the views. We felt like at home. Warm days were special as well, the house is well oriented and easy to ventilate. The area is very nice to sail or walk, and less than 5m by car to the town or hypermarkets. Darmouth uses to have lots of nice activities in summer and all the charmy towns around are near by car. Communication with the owners is always easy and near immediat. Access is not the best (car is a must but there is plenty of room for it) but not a problem for us. Cleaning was excellent, even having high wooden ceilings and exposed stone walls. No bugs, spiders or simmilar. (Be carefull with mosquitoes outside at evening, we're in a river!) Bedrooms are full featured, with giant TVs, luxury beds and wifi signal. Hot water and heating system is powerfull and fast. The 3 bathrooms are almost new and complete. Kitchen is for cooking lovers, SMEG fridge and a hudge 4 oven, 5 fires kitchen, programmable dish washer and full high quality accesories. There was some usefull stuff as salt, olive oil, cleaning paper, etc. We didn't have the opportunity to try the BBQ and garden furniture at one side of the house, but it seems to be a nice place to spend the day with the kids. A pity we didn't have more time to spend in this house, we felt like at home and will try to repeat!”
“We loved Mill Grange and had a lovely time away from it all by the (tidal) river but a short drive from the centre of Dartmouth. Plenty of space in the house for 6 of us with our teen kids and my parents and a great time was had by the whole family. The only suggestion I would make is that going downstairs it gets a bit musty, most likely coming from the bunk room as it’s not often used and could probably benefit from an airing out each time the cleaning happens. Thanks for a lovely stay. We can definitely recommend your place. ”
“We have just returned from having had a wonderful week at Mill Grange . It is a fabulous mill conversion , extremely comfortable and really well equipped .. Mill Grange is situated at the very top of Mill Creek a perfect location ,, very quiet but within easy reach of Dartmouth , we had with us a small rubber boat tender so we set off to explore the Dart on a couple of days which was great fun . We were blessed with fabulous weather so made the most of the different outside seating areas . The garden has been very cleverly landscaped .For alfresco dining the table and benches on the middle terrace is ideal . Communication could not have been better . Hopefully one day we will be able to return to this wonderful spot. Thank you both Julie ”
“We visited in May with our three children aged 7 4 and 3. We were blessed with great weather and enjoyed the Torbay Airshow. The house was spotless, warm and had a beautiful view over the river which the kids loved playing in and we did some little SUP excursions around the boatyard. The beds were super comfy and towels were big and soft; the house was very well decorated and appointed- the washing machine was amazingly silent! Kim was very helpful with communication. We leave well rested with great memories of your secret valley and hope to come back soon as it was a pleasure to rediscover the Dartmouth area after 20 years.”
“If you want luxury in a secret hideaway on the banks of the Dart this is the place for you. From walking in the front door we could see the love and effort taken to renovate the house to the highest standards. Superb taste in furniture and fittings, all mod cons in place and a taste of old and new married perfectly together to provide the stylish end product. Kim was an excellent communicator and the directions were clear to follow. The steep single track roads were exciting to start each days new adventure. Loads to see and do in this idyllic part of Devon. Thank you.”
“We had a fantastic weekend at Kim's beautiful house. The location and facilities of the house were perfect, we couldn't fault it.... The decor and layout inside is stunning and we particularly loved the outside area all around the house; we found and used a different spot each day. The location is ideal as well, right next to the River Dart but only a 5 min drive into Dartmouth town. The walks nearby are also lovely and scenic. Kim made it an extremely easy weekend break for us and went out of her way to get us in at short notice, and comms were exceptional throughout. Hopefully we'll be able to return again soon..... All the best and thank you again Paul and Tracey ”
“Mill Grange fulfilled all our expectations and definitely had the wow factor. Kim & Katrina have made a wonderful job of renovating their stunning holiday home to a very high spec but not loosing its character. No expense has been spared. The property is in a very out of the way place and has uninterrupted views of Mill Creek with all its fascinating wild life. Detailed instructions of how to find it were very much appreciated. A truly unique holiday swap. Thank you both for agreeing to our stay and allowing us to rediscover the beauty of Dartmouth and its surrounds in the most glorious weather. ”
“Beautiful home in a beautiful location. Kim was very helpful and friendly. We had a perfect few days away. Thank you Kim! ”
“Absolutely lovely property in a stunning location. Kim communication was excellent prior to the trip. Would recommend and hope to return.”

“This house is a lovely find...we absolutely LOVED our stay and Kim could not have been nicer and more kind and thoughtful. The setting is beautiful, it is as quiet as anywhere could be, the treats on arrival were so handy and delicious and the house itself was a treasure! We love it and want to return!”
“Enjoyed a lovely few days in this beautiful hideaway. The house is gorgeous. Kim was excellent to deal with and provided lots of information. Would highly recommend!”
“Had a wonderful week in the middle of January, lovely warm fire and beautiful views. Owners had coffee & tea waiting for us and a bottle of wine. Had wonderful outings and the house was very near Dartmouth. Would definitely go again!!!”
