About our home

2019 - Looking for Southern UK weekend swaps in 2019. Our house is available for 1 week in Aug 2019, however this would be a non simultaneous swap. As we would like a NY break.
2019 - Overseas to see in the New Year 19/20.
2020 - 2 weeks in Orlando, USA in Easter or Summer.

Our home over looks the sea and the pretty little coastal town of Dawlish in Devon. The house sits at the top of the town in a very quiet residential area. Just a short walk to the sea front and a hop to the fields and footpaths behind. We have spent much time turning our home into our perfect, modern, family dwelling. Throughout is stripped back pine flooring mixed with modern tiling, giving the house a really fresh and airy feel, even on the dullest of winter days. Our favourite thing is to watch the sun rise over the sea with a coffee each morning.

We have 3 bedrooms - One double bed, one single bed and one sofa bed (sleeps 1-2)
Being 6, our sons bedroom comes with an array of toys, books and family board games.

Our kitchen and bathroom are brand new to a high spec, with a utility for laundry.

We have a beautiful, green, secluded garden with access from the kitchen through to the garden. BBQ and seating for 6 outside.

Wifi is of course available. We also have Sky Movies, Netflix and an XBox.

The Location -
The south west of the UK is a very disable area, where many people come for their holidays.

We are just 0.7 miles from the sea, which is a quick 15 minute walk. The 'locals' beach at Coryton Cove is a hidden gem, in summer they have pizza, fish and chip evenings and live music. Its quite special. There are lots of sweet cafes in town, a large green, stream and beach. There are some lovely little gems further along the coast where you can kayak, paddle board or hire a boat. We can provide you with all information of the local area.
There are also many local indoor and outdoor pools in the area.

You will find the train station is on the seafront, which is just 10-20 mins to Exeter, should you wish to explore a little further. Or hop onto Dawlish Warren for a real British Seaside day out. There are many towns along the coast with easy reach by train if you do not have a car. Air shows are my favourite summer events.

Cornwall is 1-2 hours depending which end you want to visit.
Dartmoor National Park which is a 30 minute drive.

London area 3 hrs via train or car
Bristol 90 mins via car
Exeter 20 mins via car
Our home is 3min from Dawlish Station in a taxi

With prior arrangement we are happy to arrange our car to be used locally.

We have two cats Rosie and Jeffery. I understand not everyone is a cat person (I'm recently converted) so whilst they'll be around and need feeding, they mainly live in the utility with no need to enter the house.... unless you want a cuddle.

More about us

  1. We are 30 somethings Amy & Pete, we have a 6 year old son. We really love where we live and the relaxed way of life in Devon.
We both work hard, so love to spend our down time travelling. In the past years we have been to New York, Ibiza, Iceland, Berlin, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Copenhagen to name a few. It's our first year on homeforexchange so hope to make some good memories through like minded people.

  2. We both work locally. I am a Design Manager in Exeter and my partner Pete works as a Gas Engineer.

  3. Our home reflects My passion for Design and interiors. Pete is extremely active and we spend lots of time around the area walking and exploring the area around.

Where is it?

Dawlish is a small coastal town in South Devon. We are just 0.7 miles from the beach. Our home is at the top of a hill, so not great for anyone who has problems walking.

The town is very pretty, it has a stream and green in the centre and is home to the famous Black Swans. The town has lots going on throughout the summer months, seeing Carnival week arrive and lots of traditional British activities. We also have Crazy Golf and an amusement arcade. Fish & Chips, stone baked pizza and homemade ice cream are part of summer life down at the locals beach at Coryton Cove.
Dawlish Warren is just 3miles away and has amusements, fun fair and beach. The Warren is where many people holiday and it gets very busy throughout the summer.

Teignmouth is the next town along and is great for kayaking, boat hire and swimming on the back beach. There is a fantastic play Park in the town and also has a pier dating back to Victorian times.

The famous train line runs from the sea front where you can travel locally to neighbouring towns such as Teignmouth & Exmouth including the Cathedral City of Exeter. A trip either way is breathtaking and arguably the prettiest line in the UK as it is right on the sea wall.
