Our home is situated on the outskirts of Alresford providing a very attractive base from which to explore the whole of Southern England. Walks into the countryside are right on the doorstep and there are a number of wonderful country pubs that serve excellent food and local beer, some of which are within easy walking distance. Alresford is a lovely small, friendly and safe town that has two small supermarkets, two butchers, a fishmonger and various other individual and quirky shops. It provides ample opportunity for outdoor activities or just relaxing in the cafes and restaurants. Alresford is a very picturesque and beautiful town which has a range of historic architectural styles. It takes 10 minutes to walk to the centre of Alresford. The ancient cathedral city Winchester is 15 minutes drive away and provides a wealth of attractions, good shopping, good restaurants, parks and a leisure centre.
Within easy driving distance there is the south coast towns and beaches, the New Forest, Bath, Oxford, Stonehenge and there are regular direct trains to London which takes one hour. The Watercress Line runs old steam trains between Alresford and Alton throughout the year.
