“We recently spent a wonderful holiday in Newquay Cornwall. Gavin and Julie welcomed us to their home. They left us some delicious scones, jam and clotted cream along with Cornwall's famous Cornish pasties. Their home is very comfortable with great satellite TV. Gavin's parents live close by and were very helpful during our stay even inviting us to their house for a drink! The weather was delightful during our stay and we were able to enjoy their sunny south facing garden with a glass of wine. Great restaurants in the area particularly Rick Stein's and Jamie Oliver's and Nicols in Newquay. If you love surfing then Newquay is an ideal destination. Thank you Gavin and Julie (and their 2 delightful children Tom and Katie) for a great exchange.”
Julie's reviewsAs a host (2)
“Our family has just returned from a fantastic week in Newquay, Cornwall. Julie and Gavin went to great efforts to make sure that everything was perfect for our stay. On our arrival they has left us a delicious Cornish Cream Tea! Before our visit they were great at keeping in contact with us. The house was perfect for us and our three children. It's really comfortable and spotlessly clean. The house has everything that we could possibly need and we loved sitting out on the west facing patio enjoying lovely Cornish sunsets. The location of the house is perfect as it's in a really quiet cul-de-sac and within walking distance of the town and a few minutes drive to the beaches. Julie and Gavin had prepared a really useful information pack covering beaches, restuarants, walks and days out. There is so much to do - during our week we visited St Ives, the Eden Project, Padstow (lovely seaside town with Rick Stein restaurants) and went cycling on the Camel Trail. We also went body boarding - there are lots of great surfing beaches in Newquay. We can highly recommend a house swap with Julie and Gavin in Cornwall - not only are they most generous hosts in a superb location but they also left our house in pristine condition.”
Where is it?
Our neighbourhood is friendly, welcoming and safe and I am sure you will feel part of the community. The house next to us is a second home and therefore empty, apart from the odd weekend, our other neighbours are good friends and our children play regularly together. Newquay is situated in Cornwall, approximately a five hour drive from London. It has its own airport (which is a fifteen minute drive from our house) and has trains daily from London. Newquay is a popular holiday destination and famous for surfing. It boasts some of the best beaches in England it also has stunning unspoilt coastline with miles of coastal paths. There is no shortage of things to do in Newquay surfing, diving, walking, fishing, golf to name but a few. For children there is a zoo, park, swimming pool and lots of local attractions like Dairyland and Crealy Adventure Park, during July and August there is a circus. Newquay is a great base for exploring Cornwall and there are places to visit to suit all tastes from rugged Lands End to the arty St Ives. We would be happy to give away off the beaten track secrets too. For dining out there is lots of variety from Pizza Express with the children to Rick Steins or Jamie Oliver's. Perhaps even try a traditional Cornish pasty or cream tea.
