Where is it?

Our home is in the hamlet of Hilldale (population 300), located one mile from the larger busy village of Parbold (population 3000). Hilldale is quiet with few services but is frequented by walkers and cyclist at weekends who enjoy the quiet surroundings and traditional pubs. Parbold is much busier. Walkers and boaters enjoy the delights of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal and historic buildings. It has many small businesses, shops, some excellent schools, and has been voted the best village in the North West England.

Although set in rural West Lancashire, the M6 motorway junction 27 is only 10 minutes drive away and this gives rapid access to three major North West Cities-
Manchester (30 minutes), has a vibrant nightlife, good airline connections throughout Europe and was host to the 2002 Commonwealth Games.
Liverpool (30 minutes), Voted European Capital of Culture 2008, a lively and prosperous city Preston (20 minutes)is Englands newest City.

For sports lovers there are many internationally famous soccer and rugby teams close at hand. For lovers of the outdoors, the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks are just over an hour away, and Formby Sands and the West Pennine Moors are closer to home. The borders with Wales and Scotland are less than two hours away.
