About our home

A charming 17th Century cottage, having recently been the subject of extensive modernization and upgrading to a very high standard whilst retaining many character features. The design work was undertaken by an architect specialising in boutique hotels. Views over open fields to front and rear of our home.

Accommodation comprises:- two double bedrooms, nursery & three designer bathrooms/wet-rooms; kitchen/dining room (custom-fitted kitchen), WC, large mature gardens to front and rear overlooking fields; all in the most sought after road in the historic Oxfordshire village of Chalgrove.

Special features include:- New gym heated outbuilding with weights, punch-bags & TRX, House; Miele Nespresso Coffee machine; American style fridge-freezer with ice maker/crusher; IPOD docking station sound systems; Hwam wood-burning stove; Large Mercury cooker; Sky TV; wireless wi-fi and multi-jet wetrooms with mood LED lighting.

Other things you need to know: Our home is semi-detached (although you would never know it as it has such a private feel!) Neighbours are very friendly, helpful and chair the village county council.

Attractions:- the Oxfordshire village of Chalgrove lies approximately 10 miles from the City of Oxford with daily bus services to and from the City. Nearby attractions include Raymond Blanc's world famous restaurant Le Manoir Aux Quat'Saisons c. 4 miles; The Crazy Bear Hotel & restaurant, Stadhampton c. 2 miles; Henley-On-Thames & Marlow-On-Thames approx 15 miles away; London can be reached within one hour.

Or you may wish to experience country village life and visit any of the three different public houses within Chalgrove or any of the numerous surrounding country villages. You could also dust off the mountain bike & walking boots & explore the nearby Chiltern Hills and Shotover Park.

If you are a fisherman, there are numerous lakes and pools within a short driving distance in addition to the local river of the Thames and Thame. Licenses will be required and are available on-line.

Buzzy restaurants
The Crazy Bear, Stadhampton; The Mole, Toot Baldon; for a bit of sophistication, Le Manoir Aux Quat Saisons, Great Milton; The Old Parsonage, Oxford; The Chequers, Berrick Salome; Home Sweet Home, Roke. I could go on!
Cool bars
Three pubs in walking distance, but there are many others in close proximity to the village and many trendy bars in Oxford and London.
Cozy cafés
There are many dotted around Oxford and surrounding villages.
Retail therapy
Oxford. And I must recommend Westfields near Shepherds Bush, London - the largest shopping centre in Europe!

Walks in the park
There is a recreation ground in the village itself complete with tennis courts, astro turf (for soccer or netball), skateboarding ramps, workout areas. There are also a plethora of other parks in driving distance.
Spot of exercise
David Lloyd, Cowley; The Esporta, Oxford are a couple of good gyms in the area. There are also many swimming pools to choose from. If you like a bit of latin dance, there is a zumba class in the village!
Day tripping
Warwick Castle, Henley-On-Thames, London, National Trust places. The list goes on...
