Our home is made of Cotswold stone which is a deep honey colour. It was built in 1839, and has many original features including an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove and a bottle well (now incorporated within the house). On the ground floor there are three reception rooms, a book room, a small toilet, utility room, and a fully fitted kitchen with an AGA, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, washing machine, dryer. The house is kept warm by oil-fired central heating and the AGA. There is a cellar. We have a television with terrestrial channels, plenty of children's toys (suitable to age 8), telephone, computer and broadband connection. On the first floor, there are two bathrooms, one with a shower, the other with a bath. There are four bedrooms, one double, two twin-bed, and one single - all the single beds are wooden sleigh-type beds. We have two wooden cots for use, if required. We have a 3/4 acre established garden with apple trees, a large willow, a small stream, a pond with gold fish, and lots of hiding places for children. There is a private drive-way with off-street parking and a two-car garage and green house.
We are Louise and Mark and are married with three children aged 7, 3 and 1 - two girls and a boy. We also have 2 cats and a selection of chickens in the garden who provide fresh eggs in the warmer months. Mark and I are both Paediatricians in Oxford. We love living here and hope that anyone exchanging with us will enjoy our house and all that is around.
The village of Little Tew is picturesque, small and friendly and twinned with Great Tew (see: http://www.greattewvillage.co.uk), which is one mile away with it's thatched cottages attracting many visitors. There are several super pubs/dining inns in the vicinity - including 'The Falkland Arms' at Great Tew (see: http://www.falklandarms.co.uk/home.php). The village is in the beautiful Cotswold countryside surrounded by wonderful walks and with easy access to the beautiful towns of Stowe-on-the-Wold (25 mins), Burford, (30 mins), Oxford (30 minutes), Cheltenham, (35 minutes), Stratford-Upon-Avon,(30 minutes) and Blenheim Palace in Woodstock(15 mins)(www.blenheimpalace.com). London is a 1 hour train journey from our local station 7 miles away. There is much to do for children and adults - for example punting, shopping and exploring the colleges in Oxford, wildlife parks, many National Trust houses and gardens, horse riding etc. It is a lovely palce to live!
