About our home

When we decided to move out of London, we were looking for a location that would offer us the convenience that we were familiar with, but with easy access to less urban activities. So we moved to our Oxford house in 2007 and have been making a home of it ever since..

We live in Osney Island, a riverside community West of the city.. There is bus access into town from the Botley Road, it is walkable in 10 minutes.. but without doubt, the best way to travel is by bike.

You can choose to immerse yourself in the historical and architectural wealth of the city, or you can just amble around it with equal pleasure.. whatever takes your fancy.. There are numerous college owned green spaces in the city with public access that allow you to relax.

If you want to go further afield under your own steam, we live just 100 yards from the Thames path. Walk or cycle... North takes you into countryside to Port Meadow, Binsey (Alice in Wonderland territory) Wolvercote and beyond. Travel South under Foley Bridge, past Christchurch Meadow and the university rowing clubhouses to Iffley. Sunday brunch over a newspaper at the Isis pub at Iffley is a must.

There are relaxing Thames boat trips available from Salters Steamers (Foley Bridge) downstream to Abingdon via the Isis at Iffley.

And if you want to get into a car then head to Woodstock for Bleinham Palace, Burford, Stowe on the Wold and Bibury for Cotswolds, Winchester for more medieval heritage and Southampton for the sea.
