Our lovely barn conversion is a family-friendly retreat in the heart of Kent, England. We have four double bedrooms in the main house (2 en-suite) as well as a separate bathroom with a lovely claw-foot tub (perfect for relaxing bubble baths!). The additional bedroom/shower room is located in a detached annex on the property. If required, we can convert the annex to an office.
The barn is a tastefully refurbished single story with a country kitchen and has all the modern conveniences, including the full satellite TV package and televisions in the two en-suite bedrooms. We also have two sitting rooms, one without TV for those looking for a quiet escape to read, listen to music or play a game of our vintage Scrabble over a glass of wine. We have a large patio with new rattan furniture (seating for twelve) and two king-sized parasols - a lovely setting to enjoy dining al fresco!
We are located on an old farmstead and our nearest neighbors are the original 13c. farm house and a classic Kentish Oast House. Our garden is 1/3 of an acre with plenty of room to roam as we are surrounded by lovely countryside (including the only privately owned airfield servicing two-seater planes quieter than a lawnmower), public footpaths for country walks and are only 1 mile from the nearest pub (the 15th c. Chequers Inn). We also have two hens that will provide fresh eggs for you during your stay!
If you have a young family, you’re welcome to use our trampoline, bouncy castle, swing-set & paddling pool. We also have booster seats and cribs if required, depending on the age of your child(ren).
For those looking to explore South East England, we are only five minutes to the local train station, which has a direct link to London (45 minutes). We are under an hour to the historic city of Canterbury and nearer to other local historical sites, including (but not limited to):
• Batemans (Rudyard Kipling’s home)
• Chartwell (Winston Churchill’s home)
• Bodiam castle
• Ightam Mote

• Numerous stately homes & gardens (including Sissinghurst)
• Leeds castle
• Battle, the historic site of the Abbey and battle of Hastings (1066)

From London, you will have easy access to other locations in England (such as historic Bath and Stonehenge). For the more adventurous, we are only 35 minutes away from the high-speed rail link that can get you to Paris in under two hours (if booked early, tickets could cost you as little as £69 return). We would be happy to assist with any arrangements and sightseeing you would be interested in.
