“We had such a lovely break at Jules and John’s beautiful home by the sea. Such a fantastic location! We loved the beaches and visiting the (very) nearby Giants Causeway. Jules’s suggestions for eating out as well as nearby things to do were all spot-on. We really enjoyed a day in Belfast too with more great ideas of things to do there from Jules. Thank you for such a lovely introduction to Northern Ireland. We hope to be back!”
“So enjoyed revisiting Jules and Johns home. Although it was beautiful before, I notice they have added some additional lovely touches, both inside and in the garden patio area, to make it even more homely and inviting. The house is conveniently located, well equipped, very comfortable, and has great responsive hosts. Will definitely make plans for next year again, if you will have us! Many thanks! Maureen and family”
“Jules and John, What a great spot you have. The house was decked out with everything - we could not have wanted more. Jules was a great communicator and suggested a couple of great restaurants - and booked them for us as we were there over a 'busy' weekend. The house is in a perfect area, with lots to do including walks, sights, restaurants, nature and of course, lots of small pubs. We will be back. Thank You ”
“Portballintrae is a wonderful spot, the coastline is spectacular. Very peaceful, but within minutes drive of Bushmills and close to Portrush, wonderful walks right out of the door. The house is great, recently refurbished and very well equipped. Excellent hosts, we had a lovely time here.”
“A wee dream home! Just loved it completely! The house was really well equipped, cozy, and comfortable. The back garden had an amazing patio and table which caught the sun all day and was great for entertaining. There are lots of things to do near by. I love the North Coast but never got a chance to do more than day trips. It was great to be able to see all the sights that tourists come from all over the world to see and have an amazing base to come 'home' to in the evening. Bushmills was great with the distillery and the Bushmills Inn, not to mention the rope bridge and Giants Causeway. Portballintrae was a lovely friendly wee town and has great walks, and nice pubs and places to eat. There are brilliant views from the front of the house over the coastline. This was really home away from home. Thanks Jules and John for being great hosts and letting us stay at your amazing home!”
Where is it?
Portballintrae is a sleepy little village with a quaint beach set in a small cove which is ideal for kids. They will spend hours fishing in the rock pools! There is a village shop, a wine bar, a hotel and the boat club which has a very popular bar so you don't have to walk far for food or drinks. The golf club also has a bar and restaurant both with amazing views and an excellent choice on the menu. Very well priced too. The next village Bushmills is an easy 30min stroll and has the choice of three great restaurants and several coffee shops and fish and chip shops as well as art galleries, craft shops, a couple of butcher shops, a deli, chemist, several grocery stores etc so you really don't need to venture any further for all your shopping needs. Coleraine is a 15min drive and has several large Supermarkets - Sainsbury's, Asda, Tescos and even a small Marks and Spencer food store. The Giants Causeway is a 45min walk by Runkerry beach which is popular with surfers. It is a beautiful area with lots to do. There are several top class golf courses in the area and there are golfers from all over the world visiting during the summer months. There are numerous Game of Thrones tours as a lot of the filming has been done in the area. It is only an hour from Belfast and about 45 mins from Derry so two cities within easy reach.
