We live in North Somerset with easy access to South Wales, the Cotswolds and Dorset and Devon, as well as the historic cities of Bristol and Bath. Our light and spacious (270sq m) home has just had a modern two story extension and has a lovely garden with hot tub, barbecue, fire pit, pergola and views of the water (and the ships going by!). The large kitchen/diner/family room has a log burner and bifold doors leading out onto the garden, and the garden has a gate leading out to a play area and a small woods where there is a trail down to the coastal path. The kitchen has a spiral staircase leading up to a covered balcony/sunroom which has bifold doors which open to make an ideal spot for a drink whilst watching the sun set over the estuary.
We have 5 bedrooms, The master bedroom is an ensuite, The guest bedroom is a double, and there are two kids bedrooms, one with an optional extra bed. We also have a sofa bed in the playroom which doubles as a spare room. The master and the single bedroom have great views out to the estuary. We have three shower/bathrooms and one cloakroom.
We have two friendly half Bengal cats who we would love our guests to enjoy, but who can go in a cattery if needed.
We are on the outskirts of Portishead, which has a Lido, harbour, lake grounds with a play area, great views of the estuary and some nice waterfront restaurants and tapas bars. The nearest pub for eating is 5 minutes walk away and a family pub 20 minutes walk along the coastal path. There are lots of walks in the Gordano valley, and some lovely welcoming pubs. We are also a short drive (or about an hours walk along the estuary) to Clevedon with its historic pier, and victorian waterfront with cafes, bars and boutique shops. There are also lots of children's activities near by. Puxton Park, Bristol Zoo, @Bristol science museum, Noah's arc, and and Clevedon and Blaize castle play areas are all easy days out. For older kids there are Air Hop, 'Wild Place' Mojo active high ropes and 'The Wave' surfing lake all less than half an hour drive.. Nearby sandy beaches include Weston Super Mare and Brean Sands (both about half and hour's drive- or train to Weston from Nailsea). Check for tide times if you want a swim.
In the winter the house is warm and cosy with underfloor heating and fires in the main rooms, and there are fun activities (ice rings- ski centre, santa train and cinemas) as well as short walks to cosy pubs nearby. If it snows we have the perfect sledging field next door. After a cold day out it is a delight to return to roaring fires and hot tub!
We could do a car swap too if desired and can arrange cleaning, cooking, childcare as needed.
We would love a swap somewhere in Europe this summer.
