About our home

This is a recently renovated duplex apartment full of quirky features in a Victorian mansion house in the centre of Buxton. It is cosy (with Hive heating controls), well-equipped (all kitchen appliances recently upgraded; 2 x smart TVs with games consoles), supremely comfortable (fabulous power shower and good quality mattresses) and perfectly located (Buxton Opera House a 2-min walk).

Sleeping arrangements involve 2 double beds - one in the bedroom and one in the lounge (see photo). Believe it or not, this is the comfiest bed in the house and when relatives come to stay they fight over this one! There is also a 2nd bedroom with 3rd double bed which is normally used for storage, but by special request we may be able to make it available to you.

Due to stairs and ladder unfortunately this property is not suitable for children under 10 or people with mobility problems. Clean, well-behaved dogs are welcome, though a small cleaning surcharge will be necessary.

More about us

  1. Jenni recently left the Royal Air Force; she is now juggling being a reservist with starting her own business as a web designer. Chris is a secondary school teacher slash Royal Navy Reserves Officer.

  2. In 2018 we took a mini 'gap year' and were lucky enough to travel to Turkey, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Australia, the southern states of the USA, Boston and NYC. Along the way we were hosted by some wonderful people, including members of the LoveHomeSwap community. It was such a great experience that we really want to pass on that hospitality to anyone who might want to visit the Peak District. We truly are open to suggestions and if you want to come here, we'll do our utmost to make it happen for you!

  3. We both love living in Buxton. Our favourite things include: the Buxton Fringe Festival (July each year), hiking up to Solomon's Temple in all weathers, browsing the quirky boutiques in the Cavendish Arcade (with brunch at Charlotte's Cafe) and listening to the Brass Band play in Pavilion Gardens on Sunday afternoons. If you think it sounds like your kind of place, let us know what you're into and we'll give you loads of recommendations so you can make the most of your time.
