About our home

Our family home is a 1930s house in a quiet town location in Abingdon, which is 10 minutes drive south of Oxford. Recently renovated, it contains a large open plan living space downstairs, with huge bi-folding doors opening out onto a large decking area and 100ft garden complete with trampoline, children's Wendy House, football goal, and climbing frame with slide.

We have 4 large, double bedrooms: the master bedroom has a super-king-sized bed; the second bedroom has a bunk bed with a pull out single-size chair bed;, the third bedroom has contains a double bed and a child's cot bed; and the fourth bedroom has a bunk bed bed and a toddler bed. Our upstairs family bathroom has an extra long tub with over-bath shower; our downstairs shower room has a large rain-shower. Our sitting room at the front of the house has two comfy sofas, perfect for watching TV in the evenings; the 40" UHD Smart TV has a range of apps including Netflix and Amazon Video and there's a Nintendo Wii and a Virgin Media TiVo box for live TV.

The house is fully kitted out for families with hundreds of toys, games, books for boys and girls, highchair, bikes and scooters, (don't forget the trampoline, climbing frame with slide, Wendy House, and football goal mentioned earlier).

Abingdon-on-Thames itself is a great family-orientated town, which is only a 5-minute drive (or 20 min walk) away. Here you will find supermarkets, shops, cafes, restaurants, the ancient Abbey ruins, and the lovely walks along the Thames Path, which stretches all the way to London. You can also hire boats for the day or catch on of the boat cruises from here into Oxford, if you wish. The town also has a large park on the banks of the Thames, which contains a great adventure playground, plus water sprinklers/splash zone in the summer months, and an outdoor pool (also on in the summer months - there is a large leisure centre with pools for lane swimming and a toddler pool, tennis and squash courts, gym, and more).

Historic Oxford is a short 15 minute drive away, or alternatively you can catch the bus into Oxford from the end of our road, which is reasonably priced and takes about 30 minutes. There are many walks in the nearby countryside, the Cotswolds are a 30 minute drive from here, and London is also easily reachable in under an hour from the local train stations. If you fancy a trip to the beach, glorious sandy beaches are only 1 hr 30 mins away in the car in Bournemouth!

We love spending time as a family experiencing new things and we are very active with our time at the weekends. We are interested in long-weekend swaps anywhere in the UK or Northern Europe and we are actively looking for a week away at the end of May 2019 and also for a 10-14 day holiday in August 2019.
