About our home

Our home is a beautiful, detached country cottage which is over 200 years old. It has recently been completely refurbished to the highest standard, with much love and care. We have retained the original character of the house, but with all the requirements of modern living. We have 3 large, double bedrooms - two with a double bed and one with two singles. There is a further 4th, single bedroom - currently used as a study - which could easily be used a bedroom, if required. We have two bathrooms, one with a bath and separate shower and one with a walk-in shower (suitable for disabled access). There is a substantial sitting room, and a separate dining room. The sitting room has a wood burner stove, and the dining room has an open coal fire. The kitchen has a large pantry, and a utility room (with washing machine and dryer) adjacent to it. The kitchen is very well equipped. We also have a large, fully furnished gym. We have satellite tv, and wireless internet access. The house has oil fired central heating.

The house is accessible and senior friendly.

The house sits in an acre of mature gardens. We have a large summerhouse in the garden, which provides a real haven of peace and tranquility. There is also a barbeque area, with a gas bbq. The garden has a pond at the bottom, and a stream runs the length of it, which is very pretty. The view from the garden is truly stunning. We also benefit from having a hot tub, which is situated in a completely private area of the garden.

Our home is spacious, clean and very comfortable. It offers a real taste of country living, but with the luxury and modern amenities required to make a stay here very pleasant.

Our home is located in the peaceful and picturesque village of Roberton, which nestles in the foot of the Lanark hills. Although a fairly rural location, there is easy access to both Glasgow and Edinburgh. Glasgow is a 45 minute drive, and Edinburgh 50 minutes. There are many market towns situated close by, and the highest village in Scotland is a 15 minute drive from the village. We are one hour from Carlisle, and from there it is easy to access the North of England and areas such as the Lake District are less than 3 hours drive away.

The surrounding scenery is amongst some of the most spectacular in Scotland. For those who enjoy outdoor pursuits, such as walking, climbing, fishing and cycling we are ideally situated. Within a 5 minute walk from the front door, you are in the midst of the Roberton moors - a very popular walking and hiking area. Lanark has hills to climb, and there are many other outdoor activities on the doorstep.

Our location is perfect for exploring Scotland, and there is the opportunity to experience the countryside and all that has to offer - but also access to the bright lights and shopping of big cities close by.

We both enjoy walking, climbing and being outdoors. We are avid readers and enjoy relaxing with a book when time allows.
