About our home

If you're looking for a winter retreat in historic English countryside, or a base from which to explore London and the UK, this home is a modernist idyll with every comfort.

Set in rolling Kent countryside in the middle of 15 acres of its own grounds, this stunning property is 50 minutes from Central London and close to the lovely spa town of Tunbridge Wells.

The property comprises the main house with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, a carpeted sunken living room with audio-visual system and an open fireplace and a large open plan dining room and kitchen with three ovens and all appliances. A few steps away, are two further bedroom suites with espresso machines, bang and olufsen TV, showers, double sinks, underfloor heating and marble bath tubs.

All the rooms look out onto the hill-top garden with stunning views of the Kentish country-side.

This is a modernist house with all modern conveniences, built in 1971 and recently updated with the addition of a separate two bedroom, two bath pavilion in the gardens of what was once the family home of Jane Austen.

With it's own heated swimming pool (only open in summer) and a five person jacuzzi (year round), marble baths and rain showers, underfloor heating throughout and a wood-burning fireplace in the sunken living room you may not ever want to leave. Just go for walks in the surrounding countryside or explore the terraced gardens, with orchard, fern garden and paddocks. But this is also the perfect base from which to explore the United Kingdom. Trains to London go every half hour and Tunbridge Wells and the small town of Paddock Wood with a Waitrose supermarket and many convenient stores are nearby.

The owners, both entrepeneurs, are looking for an adventure somewhere warm and sunny during the months of November, January, February and March. They would ideally like to swap for a couple of months, but they are not fixed on a particular location or duration. if you want a comfortable warm modern country retreat close to London, please let us know what you've got to swap. Babies are fine but no toddlers or pets.
