More about us

  1. Peter and Pippa Hughes have two adult sons who are both now married with their own children and all enjoy holidaying in Salcombe and have done so for many years. Pippa ran her own Guardianship company but is now retired and Peter is a Chartered Surveyor. Pippa and Peter live in Malvern in Worcestershire, but love holidaying in Devon, where they enjoy the local restaurants, pubs, cliff walks, beaches and sailing. It is a great place for a holiday as it is relaxing, quiet (out of the main holiday season which is mid July through August) and is situated in the most beautiful part of Southern England.

Where is it?

Salcombe is a small delightful village. Once a thriving fishing port it is now an exclusive holiday destination. Situated on the banks of the most beautiful estuary on the South Coast of Devon, there are miles of safe sailing waters and small beaches. The whole South Hams area is one of outstanding natural beauty, with narrow single track roads and stunning coastal paths. The headlands and coastal paths on either side of the estuary are owned by the National Trust making it fantastic walking country.

Salcombe has several good restaurants and traditional pubs and it is also near Dartmoor National Park, Plymouth Hoe, Exeter and Cornwall. Salcombe is half an hour's drive from the main M5 motorway and is a 4 hour drive from London or Birmingham.
