About our home

This has been our family home since 1986 and was originally three bedrooms, which we extended in 2004 into the house you see today. It is well maintained, clean, comfortable and tidy, (except for Terry's office/music room which is a bit of a no go area). We have full central heating and constant hot water on tap, an open fireplace in the lounge, (very infrequently used these days). The kitchen although not large is very adequate and has a nice separate adjacent dining room. There is a large lounge and a smaller breakfast room at the front of the house, (to take advantage of the morning sun). Outside is a private front garden area with a gravel driveway and large parking area, At the rear of the house is a patio/terrace area overlooking a well maintained lawned garden, with trees and flower beds sweeping down to a picturesque stream, (or creek for the Aussie readers). P.S. In the interests of fuel economy, sadly the car in the main photograph has now been moved on.

More about us

  1. We are a family oriented retired married couple with two married daughters and five grandsons. Our eldest daughter lives with her husband & three sons just a few miles away from us. Our youngest daughter married an "Aussie" They have two young sons and until recently also lived quite close by. In August 2013 however they decided to give Australia a go, which made it an imperative of ours to get our act together and find a way of spending time with them out there. My wife and I ran a small Joinery Business until 2007 when we decided to put our feet up and pass the whole thing on to the younger generations of the family. We enjoy travelling and have another home near to the sea on the North West coast of England where we like to spend time, but love the rural delights of Central England also and can fully recommend them to you.

Where is it?

Ideally situated as a tourist base in the heart of England, our village offers easy access to places such as Shrewsbury (25 miles), Worcester, (30 miles), Stratford on Avon, Warwick and all of the Cotswold villages, (40 miles),plus even the Capital itself London, is only a matter of 120 miles away. We are also a gateway to the beautiful principality of Wales, plus being in easy reach of all the major motorway and rail links to all parts of the British Isles. Our local market town of Bridgnorth is splendidly built on two levels, High Town and Low Town, with an historic funicular railway linking High Town with the River Severn running below. The town contains many examples of Elizabethan and Tudor architecture, the ruins of a medieval castle and an historic market hall that still hosts regular farmers markets. Also the visitor may fancy a steam train journey on the heritage line through the magnificent Severn Valley. For the younger members of the family also, we are not far from two of the finest theme parks in Europe namely "Alton Towers" & "Drayton Manor". For those who prefer the pace a little slower however, this locality is packed with National Trust properties i.e. country houses, stately homes, castles and manor houses all open to the public at various times of the year. Last but not least we have the lovely rivers, Severn, Avon & Trent all within easy reach, plus the extensively restored and regenerated historic canal system criss crosses our whole area and abounds these days with narrow boats and pleasure craft of all types.
