We live in a perfect location for countless day-trips around England. It's in a small village in Hampshire which is also famous for a certain Downton Abbey (known as Highclere Castle to us) and just 20 minutes away from us.
We're around an hour's drive from London, Stonehenge, Oxford, Bournemouth Beach, Windsor Castle, Heathrow Airport, The New Forest, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Titanic's Southampton. We are also minutes away from scores of country Manor Homes, cathedrals and castles that are also worth a visit. If theme parks are your thing, we're under an hour from Legoland, Thorpe Park and Chessington World of Adventures. The Harry Potter Studio Tour is one hour away, while various HP filming locations are dotted around our region.
We're around two hours from Wales, Bath, Cambridge, Stratford Upon Avon, Gatwick Airport and Brighton. Or, you could catch the ferry to the Isle of Wight or France, if that takes your fancy.
Our backyard overlooks peaceful, lush woodland and the back gate leads straight into the woods, allowing for easy access to relaxing English strolls and bike rides. We live in a friendly, newly built neighborhood which has quickly become a much sought-after location.
We have three bedrooms which would instantly work for another young family. However, two of the bedrooms will work for big kids...and adults, of course. The house would also suit couples, as it hasn't been overcome by the kids...unless you pop in unexpectedly and they're making forts and painting!!
The master bedroom has a full sized double bed. Bedroom two (the Surf Room) currently has a full size futon bed and a toddler bed but this will be replaced with a twin bunk bed before the house exchange takes place. Bedroom 3 has a cot, which converts into a toddler bed. There's also a full size blow up mattress available, so it will comfortably sleep up to six adults/kids and one toddler/baby.
The home has all modern conveniences, including a big LED TV, digital cable, free wifi, Apple TV, Blu-Ray player, Netflix, fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer. You can also make use of the BBQ, bikes, board games, toys for younger children, as well as, a tire swing, slip n slide and adult size inflatable paddling pool.
If you haven't rented a car, the local bus service will take you into the nearest town (Basingstoke) which has a modern mall and lots of places to eat and drink. It's also where the train station is, which has up to eight trains per hour into London - a service which takes just 45 minutes.
Our neighbours are very friendly and we always have an annual Street Party. They won't impose on you but if you did want to meet up for a drink at the pub, I'm sure that most of the people on the street will want to. You might also get invited to a BBQ! We love living here and I'm sure you'll enjoy staying here, too.
