We live in Riverside, Stirling. The river Forth curls around the neighbourhood with farm land on the other bank. It's a quiet, residential family area - but we're only about ten minutes walk from everything! We have a playground across the street, a park two minutes away next to the river, Old Stirling Bridge (site of William Wallace's famous victory), and views of Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument (which you can climb to the top of for stunning views across the area).
Ten minutes to the multiplex cinema, cafe and two family-friendly restaurants. A little further out is The Peak sports village with three swimming pools (25m, learner pool ideal for smaller children and fun splash pool for babies and toddlers), climbing wall, gym, ice rink and five-a-side pitches.
Ten minutes to Stirling city centre with a large shopping centre, cafes, bars, clubs, restaurants, historic walks, the castle (great guided tours!), old town jail, Bannockburn Heritage Centre and other historic buildings.
Ten minutes to the train station for connections to Glasgow, Edinburgh, Perth, Gleneagles, etc. Glasgow features great shopping and excellent museums and galleries. Edinburgh has the castle, more shops, museums and galleries, the Royal Yacht Britannia, Royal Mile, Holyrood Palace and Scottish Parliament.
We are also within easy reach of some of Scotland's greatest golf courses: Gleneagles, St. Andrews, Troon and Loch Lomond.
The great thing about Stirling is you have all the amenities of a large town on your doorstep, all the city centre attractions of Edinburgh and Glasgow less than an hour away and some of Scotland's most stunning scenery, lochs and outdoor pursuits within an hour in the other direction.
We are half an hour from Edinburgh airport and about 50 minutes from Glasgow airport. Stirling is on a main train line with regular trains to and from London and the rest of the UK.
We are a professional couple with two kids: Lily, 7, and Charlie, 4. We studied at Stirling University and have lived here for over twenty years - we love it!
We have a comfortable home and love spending time as a family enjoying our surroundings.
We will introduce you to some of our favourite places to eat, shop and visit - where to get a great Scottish breakfast, boat trips on Scotland's only lake, woodland walks, nearby whisky distilleries and shops for local Scottish crafts.
