About our home
This chic, contemporary apartment has been freshly renovated. Designed exclusively as a vacation rental, the property occupies its own floor in a beautiful red-brick Victorian house located in North London, (the remaining floors of the building are our home). Good transport links, and stacks to do locally.
The Space...
We purchased the whole building in 2013 and set about turning this floor into a fun, contemporary apartment, just for vacation rentals. It feels homely but is clean and not packed with other peoples stuff! We have furnished it throughout with quirky things we purchased from various flea markets and boutiques.
The main bedroom (19 Sq m) has a kingsize bed and wardrobe with garden aspect. The second bedroom (11 Sq m) has a second bed and writing desk. There is an open-plan kitchen-living area with sofa, armchair and dining table for four. Finally, a brand-new large shower/WC. The whole place has recently been fully refurbished (Summer 2013) and the kitchen offers an induction hob, coffee machine and dishwasher in addition to all the usual amenities you would expect.
Guest Access...
You will, of course, have exclusive use of the entire apartment. Entrance is through the apartment's own front door via a leafy (shared) front-garden. The main bedroom window looks onto a large garden, to which guests don't have access.
The Neighbourhood,,,
The apartment is in between Crouch End and Stroud Green. Crouch End was originally a hamlet on the old medieval route from London to the north, during the Victorian period Crouch End became a prosperous town and expanded greatly. It is smart, bohemian and vibrant with a strongly supported local arts scene and a bustling Broadway. Crouch End is lucky to be surrounded by green spaces – Alexandra Palace, Highgate Wood, Queen’s Wood and Stationers Park.
Stroud Green is a neighbourhood of quiet Victorian streets in a triangle of roads north-west of Finsbury Park. Once considered the poor relation of vibrant Crouch End, Stroud Green is an area fast playing catch-up. Stroud Green has the advantage of being better served by public transport than its more fashionable neighbour Crouch End.
Getting Around...
There are several options for public transport....
• Harringay Station is 450 metres from the front door, with frequent trains into Kings Cross (journey time 11mins), Highbury (6mins), Old St (11mins) etc. For West End you can change at any of the above, for example Oxford Circus is 26mins from Harringay
• Finsbury Park Tube is a 1.8km walk away, for Victoria and Piccadilly lines
• Busses go from outside the house go to Crouch End and Archway
• We have an allocated number of visitor parking passes per year so we can offer you parking vouchers, for £2 per day (free at weekends). There are plenty of spaces outside the property.
Other Things to Note
• Free Nespresso Coffee - machine and refills provided
• We get lots of questions about the beds... so here's the deal: the main bedroom has a large sized "kingsize" double bed which is W182cm x L198cm. The second bedroom has an IKEA Lycksele sofa-bed which when configured as a bed has a mattress size of W140cm x L188cm, so this bed can sleep two people. NB This sofa-bed is not visible in the photos, as it had not been delivered when we did the photo shoot! The living room also has a sofa-bed ("Yoko" from Made) that when configured as a bed is W109cm x L180cm, which is OK for one person.
• As regards having five adults staying... if you had read the above, and think you will be OK with this, then we are happy to offer you the apartment for five but we think it is best suited to 2 - 4 adults, or a family of up to 5.
