About our home
Our stunning Victorian terrace was completely renovated by ourselves in 2010. We won the ITV show 'May the Best House Win' in May 2012 and in 2016 we have converted the loft room to a large double bedroom and wet room.
It consists of a modern interior teamed with period features. The large family bathroom has twin sinks, a modern shower unit and a roll top bath. We also have a log and a gas fire for the cold winter evenings. With its open plan spaces, extendible dining room table, folding sliding doors into the garden and ambient lighting, the house is set up for entertaining. It has a landscaped garden including a large decked area for BBQ's and a log cabin housing a fully equipped gym that can also accommodate two further sleepers.
The house swap includes our cat Millie who is very sociable and will love your care and attention. She is used to cat sitters and living in shared houses so she is fine with strangers. She needs minimal input as there is a cat flap and she can be left with biscuits so you don't need to be back for any time to feed her. She does however like a fussing.
We are minutes away from the vibrant Mill Road area of Cambridge that is lined with an eclectic selection of cafes and restaurants. We are apx. one mile from the historic city centre where you can visit the famous universities and spend a lazy afternoon punting down the River Cam.

“Nicky was very accommodating as we had a late departure and needed a place to leave out luggage It was great to be able to use points as we only needed two night. Found several nice restaurants within walking distance.”
“We had an absolutely wonderful time at Nicky’s beautiful house in Cambridge, and she was a perfect host. Communication was easy and clear, and we had no problems. Nicky’s house us just off Mill Road, an real treat for foodies with dozens of restaurants from all over the world- we tried Little Petra for Persian food and Scott’s for pizza- both of which were excellent. It’s a 25 or so pleasant walk into the centre or a super easy bus journey and Cambridge has so much to do - we went to 4 free museums in two days, you are so spoilt for choice. The house itself is beautifully done and spotlessly clean. Warnings Nicky gave about the steep steps meant that wasn’t an issue. The really lovely bathroom was my favourite, but all the rooms are decorated tastefully and have interesting curios for antique lovers. Our kids loved looking after Millie the Cat, a grand dame of the cat world who we were sad to leave. Nicky and her family were a real pleasure to swap with, we returned home to a very clean and tidy house and new additions to our Lego city which we loved. We hope we can swap again! Thanks Nicky and family! ”
“This was my first LHS trip and it was seamless. Nicky was really helpful and her house is beautiful and in an incredible location. Cambridge is such a lovely little city and having Nicky's house to go back to made it such a lovely trip. Be sure to go to Eclipse for beautiful pastries and coffee, it's only a few minutes away. ”
“This was our second stay at Nicky's home and everything went like clockwork. It is very convenient for the station, Mill Road and central Cambridge which makes it a great place to stay and enjoy Cambridge to the full. It had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. Nicky communicated well through LHS. We looked after the cat who was no trouble at all. Nicky stayed at our home this time and left our house in perfect condition. Thank you for an enjoyable stay. ”
“The best thing about Nicky's home is it's location; walking distance from the railway station and the centre of Cambridge. This made our stay very easy. We enjoyed the Winter Festival on Mill Road, the Panto at the ADC theater, and the Christmas atmosphere in town. The house is very pleasant, clean and well equipped and Milly the cat is very friendly. The attic room has its own shower room which is a bonus, but take care on the stairs as they are very steep. Great location and good communication made it an enjoyable stay in Cambridge. Thanks Nicky ”
“Nicky's home is amazing! Very welcoming and beautifully designed. I was there one night with my 3 kids for my graduation ceremony. We wished we could have stayed longer. Every is great! The rooms are comfortable, the linen really cosy, the bathroom is very practical and beautiful, the living and dining rooms are very nice. We did not use the kitchen but it large and looks practical. It made our stay very special. I really recommend! ”
“Thanks NICKY for your Welcome!”
“A wonderful haven to return to after busy days seeing the sights of Cambridge. Nicky was a great host and the house was beautiful and super comfortable. Location and proximity of public transport were a big plus. Millie the cat was a wonderful addition and very welcoming, in fact she was not backwards in demanding belly rubs and breakfast/dinner. Would have loved to stay longer. Absolutely no negatives and would highly recommend this. Thank you Nicky for sharing your home.”
“Nicky was a fantastic host and made us feel so welcome in their beautiful home. It is in a great location and the only down side was that we didn't have more time there. Would definitely recommend and hope to swap again in the not too distant future. ”
“Lovely modern comfortable home, well located for ease of access to city centre. Great city with wonderful architecture and plenty of attractions across all age groups. Really enjoyed punting on the River Cam, and visiting some of the many Universities . Also enjoyed day trips to Norwich, Great Yarmouth and Ely. ”
“Great couple great home, many thanks!”
“My family stayed in Nicky's lovely house over the Christmas season. Nicky was the consummate hostess and we loved every minutes of staying in her wonderful house. Everything was very clean, with a well stocked kitchen. The house was ideal for our family of 5 and we particularly loved the big bath and tv viewing! An authentic English winter experience! Thanks Nicky and sorry this letter so so late!”
