About our home

Our stunning Victorian terrace was completely renovated by ourselves in 2010. We won the ITV show 'May the Best House Win' in May 2012 and in 2016 we have converted the loft room to a large double bedroom and wet room.

It consists of a modern interior teamed with period features. The large family bathroom has twin sinks, a modern shower unit and a roll top bath. We also have a log and a gas fire for the cold winter evenings. With its open plan spaces, extendible dining room table, folding sliding doors into the garden and ambient lighting, the house is set up for entertaining. It has a landscaped garden including a large decked area for BBQ's and a log cabin housing a fully equipped gym that can also accommodate two further sleepers.

The house swap includes our cat Millie who is very sociable and will love your care and attention. She is used to cat sitters and living in shared houses so she is fine with strangers. She needs minimal input as there is a cat flap and she can be left with biscuits so you don't need to be back for any time to feed her. She does however like a fussing.

We are minutes away from the vibrant Mill Road area of Cambridge that is lined with an eclectic selection of cafes and restaurants. We are apx. one mile from the historic city centre where you can visit the famous universities and spend a lazy afternoon punting down the River Cam.

Neighbourhood

Buzzy restaurants
Al Casbah; a Mill Road Algerian restaurant within 10 minutes walk. It has an open fire grill and a vibrant atmosphere with fresh ingredients; we recommend the lamb tagine. Restaurant 22; a short taxi drive; the philosophy of the restaurant is good food and wine at reasonable prices in a relaxed Victorian terrace property serving only 28 diners per evening. Midsummer House; is located a short taxi drive away on the historic grounds of Midsummer Common beside the River Cam and is the only 2 Star Michelin Restaurant in East Anglia. Jamie’s Italian; Jamie Oliver’s restaurant situated in a stunning grade 2 listed building in the historic city centre.
Cool bars
Our local is The Empress; 2 minutes walk away. It has it's own pot bellied pigs! Cambridge is full of bars but we like the city centre; B bar; over 25's only and La Raza; basement bar with a small dance floor and a mix of old and new music.
Cozy cafés
The Black Cat cafe 5 minutes walk away.
Retail therapy
The Grand Arcade and Crafts market in the historic city centre as well as the Grafton Centre in the newer part of town.
Bit of culture
Visit the historic unversities and go punting on the River Cam.
Walks in the park
Take a picnic on Parkers Piece or buy a drink at a local pub and watch the punts go by on the Mill Pond.
Spot of exercise
Use our garden gym or go swimming 20 minutes walk away at Parkside swimming pool.
Day tripping
The train station is 10 minutes walk away. It is 45 minute train journey to central London.
