About our home

Our ground and garden flat benefits from the wonderful high ceilings and traditional features found in Victorian flats built around 1880, with a new state-of-the-art kitchen recently completed, which leads directly into the 40sq ft dining/living room in the heart of the garden at ground level.
The entire house has benefited from extensive refurbishment since we moved here two years ago.
There is a garage to store bikes if you are keen to cycle, otherwise the centre of this beautiful city (Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile) is only 10 minutes walk or 2 bus stops away.
The points are currently set at 380 but during the high season when the Edinburgh Festival and Fringes are on this will be increased to 400 pts per night.

More about us

  1. We're a Scottish/kiwi couple with two boys - one working in Edinburgh, the other finishing his management degree in Bath.

  2. Colin is a property developer, and I'm now retired. We are hoping to spend more time in New Zealand with family, and travelling around the world.

  3. We love travelling, new experiences, golf, bridge and lots of other sports.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We are located in the west end of Edinburgh, a ten minute walk from the centre of Edinburgh and five minutes by bus. The flat is very near Stockbridge, a buzzing area with a variety of local food shops, cafes, restaurants and bars. It won the Sunday Times 2016 accolade of best place to live in Scotland for its village feel and friendly locals. The Sunday Farmers Market is a great attraction where local produce is sold alongside food from around the world for an al fresco lunch.

Buzzy restaurants
Forest & Chatter, Rabble, Chaophraya, Stockbridge Kitchen, and Aisle - to name but a few!
Cool bars
Bramble, Panda & Sons, Tiger Lily, The Dome, Whiski Rooms, Hoot the Redeemer
Cozy cafés
Mimi's Little Bakery, Cuckoo's Bakery, The Kilted Kitchen
Retail therapy
Stockbridge is renowned for the best charity shops in the city, or for upmarket shopping try Harvey Nichols and Multrees Walk. Jenners is a wonderful traditional traditional department store.
Bit of culture
During August Edinburgh really comes alive as it hosts the Edinburgh International Festival and Fringe, the largest arts festivals in the world. We love it, but may consider a swap for a week during this special time. Hogmanay is a fantastic time to be in Edinburgh with an enormous street party. There's also Edinburgh International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Jazz and Blues Festival, the famed Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Edinburgh International Science Festival to name but a few.
Walks in the park
Edinburgh is said to be built on seven hills, so there is no limit to the number of walks and wonderful views to be had. Learmonth Terrace residents have access to The Dean Gardens, just five minutes away, eight acres of park in the city.
Spot of exercise
There are numerous cycle paths around the city and the nearby Water of Leith (a river running through the centre of Edinburgh. The riverside path provides a wonderful stretch of nature in the centre of the city and a different view of Edinburgh and the chance to see herons and even kingfishers), park runs at Cramond, hill walking in Edinburgh or the Pentlands to the south plus tennis, running, cycles for hire and swimming.
Day tripping
So much choice - St Andrews and the home of golf, beautiful beaches at Gullane and Elie, Rosslyn Chapel, The Borders or even Loch Ness to the north.
