About our home

Seaside-chic rules the day at charming Beach Hill Cottage, which, as its name suggests, is just a couple of minutes stroll from the seafront in the pretty village of Mumbles - a Gower coast (Officially a 'Designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty') village so crammed full of bistros and boutiques that the local press have started calling it 'The Monaco of Wales'.

The 2-bedroom former fisherman's cottage nestles on a small hill from where it benefits from lovely views over the coastline, best enjoyed from a deckchair in the safely enclosed patio garden with a chilled glass of wine in one hand, and a BBQ fork in the other, whilst junior plays happily in the toddler playhouse and kiddie car provided.

Features

More about us

  1. The house is jointly owned by father and daughter, Phil and Sian Williams.

  2. Phil works in the oil industry and Sian in tourisim

  3. We are passionate about design and love the Mumbles area having spent many family holidays there when Sian was younger. Now her daughter, Erin, loves nothing better than a trip to the cottage to play by the sea. We love it best in Winter when the seascapes are most impressive, the pubs cosiest and beach-sode bistros brimming with people following up a good walk with a lazy lunch overlooking the coast.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Buzzy restaurants
Sample the area's renowned seafood at one of Wales' best regardeded restaurants,Patrick's or Out of the Blue. Both are within 5 minutes walk of the cottage.
Cool bars
Mumbles is a place crammed with characterful old school pubs, but there are some cool bars too. Try Jones Bar & Kitchen on the high street or head a mile or two into Swansea for lively nightlife including the quite sophitisticated Noah's Yard
Cozy cafés
Cafe culture is big here in Mumbles. Our favourites include Cafe Valance on the high street and Surfside Cafe at Langland Bay. Families love 'The Junction' which is about a mile's walk down the promenade and serves fablulous food with a child-friendly lido pool just outside.
Retail therapy
Big shops can be found at Swansea just a few miles down the coast but Mumbles high street, just a few minutes from the cottage is home to some lovely boutiques including Jones, Joules & Oyster Gallery
Bit of culture
It would be a crime to come to this area and not pay a visit to the Dylan Thomas Museum a mile or two down the road. Plus his former home, The Boathouse' is just 20-30mins drive away in Laugharne.
Walks in the park
Nearby Singleton Park & Botentical Gardens is a great spot for a walk in the park but there's alos a little kiddies play park just a few minutes walk down the hill and, more great walking around the stunning Gower Coast.
Spot of exercise
Cycle, walk or scoot along the sea front promenade that stretches for miles
Day tripping
Oakwood Theme Park, Folly Farm or Manor House Animal Park are all within a sort drive and highly rated by families, but most visitors tend to enjoy the simple pleasures of days on one of the many beaches in the area, Surfing tuition is available, and there are many excellent walking routes, plus cosy pubs along the way.
