About our home

The Loft is a modern conversion of an historic warehouse building in Ulverston, South Lakes. The large open plan top floor offers a light and spacious living space, dining area and kitchen complete with a Scandinavian wood stove to ensure it’s always cosy. Located in the centre of town it’s just a short stroll to many pubs, restaurants and shops. A great base from which to explore the Lake District and the coastline of Morecambe Bay

More about us

  1. We are a family of five, myself, my partner Dan and our 3 children who are Rowan, 11 and twins Luca and Bel who are 5.

  2. We are a creative and adventurous family who prefer a real cultural experience to the more commercial side of holidays. Dan works as a sound artist, musician and maker and I run a holiday let in the lakes and also work with willow sculpture, dance and play music.

  3. We are a busy family and we like the kids to enjoy a free, loving and creative space. We will treat your home with care and respect.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Ulverston is a small vibrant market town in the centre of the Furness peninsula with old buildings and a labyrinth of cobbled streets. It is the start of the seventy mile Cumbrian Way created by the local Ramblers Association in the nineteen seventies. The Cumbria Way starts in Ulverston and the route goes through the Lake District before ending in Carlisle city centre. It’s a fantastic tour of a beautiful county, and a celebration of some amazing landscape.
Ulverston is known as the Festival Town and has a rich programme of events throughout the year. It is the birthplace of the original community lantern procession which began over 35 years ago, a tradition that is still going strong every September with over a thousand home made lanterns creating a river of light through the streets.
In Ulverston you will find traditional music, dance nights, live music in pubs, comedy, independent cinema, farmers markets and an exciting programme of festivals. These include Lantern Festival, Flag Fortnight, Dickensian Festival, Furness Traditions, Ulverston International Music Festival, Ulverston Buddhist Festival and Another Fine Fest. So do have a look to see what's on before you visit. If you would like any help with local information in relation to your stay we will be happy to help!

Walks in the park
The Cumbria way and Morecambe Bay locally, the beautiful Duddon Valley, Coniston, Windemere and Ambleside all easily accessible though probably easier with a vehicle. Great for keen cyclists too.
