“To say that Susan and Gary's home is magical is putting it lightly. This is such a picturesque location - our kids kept saying that it felt like we were living in a storybook, and it felt just like that. Rottingdean is a charming British village - gardens, a beautiful pond, pubs, sweet little cafes, a lovely green grocer, fish store, butcher, etc ... winding down to an idyllic rocky beach. Brighton is a beautiful walk away, and we were perfectly able to get around without a car. (Frequent bus service!) It's very easy to day trip into London. We miss Rottingdean and Susan's home already. She is a truly thoughtful host - no detail overlooked, and great communication. This was a vacation we will never forget, and we thank Susan and Gary so much for opening up their home to us! ”

About our home
Location, location, location! We live in a lovely 4 bedroom house in the picturesque seaside village of Rottingdean, which is five miles along the coast from the fun city of Brighton. Brighton in turn has great road and rail connections with the capital city of London. The fast train from Brighton to London is just under 1 hour travel time! So we are 'well connected'!
We live in a detached house located in a peaceful road just five minutes walk from the village shops and pubs and 10 minutes walk to Rottingdean beach. If you enjoy walking you can even walk along the coastal path from Rottingean via Bright marina and into the centre of Brighton in 1 1/2 hours and perhaps just catch the bus or taxi back! Our road is situated minutes from the stunning South Downs and national trail. This is a beautiful area for nature walks and stunning views. In fact there is a wonderful walk you can do directly from our house over the South Downs to a charm 15th century pub for a pint of ale and a good meal- great fun!
The house was built in 1954 and has a 'well lived in' feel to it. There is a large mature rear garden with patio, decking, a conservatory and an outdoor hot tub. There is also a swing chair, barbecue and fire pit for those warm summer days and evenings.
Downstairs there is a bright, well equipped and modern kitchen with everything you could possibly need to cook a meal! The kitchen has sliding doors that open out directly onto the garden. Adjacent to the kitchen is the sitting room, dining room and study. The house is broadbands connected.
On the first floor there is the master bedroom, which has a double bed and ensuite shower room. The second bedroom is also on this floor and has 2 single beds and is immediately adjacent to the bathroom. The third bedroom is a small single bed room.
On the second floor is the 'loft' bedroom which is a large room with 2 two beds and an extra 'day bed' that can be extended into a double bed. This room is accessed up a second set of stairs and affords nice views of the garden, the downs and rural locality and even the sea ( on a clear day)!
Rottingdean is a typically English village with a great selection of pubs, tea shops, restaurants and of course a good fish and chip shop! Rottingdean is a historic smuggling village and famously was the home of Rudyard Kipling. Situated in the village centre is a charming 13th century village church and a pretty village pond.
Brighton is a fun city to explore. It has a wide range of international restaurants, great pubs, museums, theatres, cinemas, clubs and lots more! Of course Brighton is famous for the fascinating Brighton Royal Pavilion , the Brighton Lanes, the North Laines and Brighton Pier.
London of course is a fascinating city and it is very accessible from Brighton. There are 4 trains per hour from Brighton to London and it is very easy to travel to London and back for a day trip or even just for the evening! So everything is possible.
A stay in Rottingdean offers you the peaceful charm of an old English village, the beauty of the South Downs, the fun of the sea and the cosmopolitan buzz of Brighton and London! Truly a great location!
